Re: Nashville, 4/15-4/16

It seems that the expanding Brooklyn Bowl brand is essentially gentrification. All one needs to know is that the original is in Williamsburg. Gentrification is absolutely their brand. But I should add that simply as a venue, I like the original (the only one I've been to). Gentrification is of cour...

I've been symptom-free, but paranoid of every little cough and tickle in my throat since returning. So far so good. Glad you're negative. We’ve been symptom free too and Beth tested negative. With Omicron having a 33-72 hour onset so I’m assuming we’re good. We wore N95 masks religiously at the clu...

There is a lot about Nashville I like, downtown is not it. After my transplant we lived in an apartment in Sobro for two months. It truly was so-bro. It was like Bourbon Street with cowboy hats and none of the old world charm. We really liked the Frist Art Museum, though.

Re: The Fourth Night of My Thinking

I very much dig HC being a little more outside of cold and flu season like it was this year. And if that was partially responsible for the lower bro factor in attendance, I'm all for it. Nicest crowd by far I've seen in my 7 trips to HC. For the extra night if it continues: Love the idea of a rarit...

Re: 2022 Heathens Homecoming Thread - April 6, 7, 8 & 9

This and that: The bro contingent was vanishingly small. This may have had to do w/ the UGA calendar, with which I am not familiar, but it may also be that tickets went so fast that casual fans were shut out (otoh anybody who REALLY wanted a ticket seemed to be able to get one). Not coincidentally,...

Mare of Easttown - Season 1. Very, very good although it could have been 1 to 2 episodes shorter. The depiction of people trapped in lives by forces they don't fully understand is distressingly painful but the hope and optimism, such as it is, is hard and well earned. We enjoyed it. The performance...

Don't underestimate the damage Ida has done. The improvements to the levees held, so the damage to the city of New Orleans was far less than with Katrina. That said, much of the city will be without power for weeks, and there has been some heavy, localized damage. Outside the city is an entirely dif...
