Re: Music, Etc.

Came across this while looking for an appropriate existing thread for a question. DBT and Slobberbone teaming up on Cortez the Killer. Happy for/jealous of all of you Shoalsfest attendees this weekend!

Now what the hell was my question?

Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

After having missed a couple of the shows, I'm so glad I caught Patterson's most recent (at the 11th hour, literally). I appreciate the insight he offers into where he was (physically and mentally) when a song was written. Impactful show and I can't stop thinking about it today. "Protest songs are f...

Re: Chattanooga, TN 5/4/17

Sorry I missed you! I was there as well, first time at Track 29. I was impressed with the sound quality. Show was fantastic. Highlights for me: Baggage, Imagine and Used To Be A Cop - the band looked like they were really having fun, like they knew they were producing some really cool sounds. How ab...

I'm in awe of all you smart, talented folks who contributed items to the auction. I was the winning bidder on a couple of items including a digitally enhanced photograph mounted on foam board that I am absolutely in love with. I would like to contact the artist but I neglected to take down the name....

Guilty as charged on slacking a bit… Random observations from the show: Kyle Craft - Wow! Oozes talent. Big, huge voice filled the Mother Church nicely. I don’t know anything about the process for choosing openers but DBT has given me many gifts through the years including this one. Sound for DBT wa...

Re: Homecoming 2016 40 Watt Club Athens, GA 2/11,12 & 13

Indeed! I don't want to be a night one casualty again. I've been training (standing more than sitting) and have put on a few pounds for the occasion. I had hoped to take off work this year but will have to go to ATL for some meetings on Thursday then a few meetings in Athens on Friday. I'll look int...

From Augusta last night - my first outdoor show I suck at set lists but I think I've got the opener and last two songs correct - everything else is out of order and it's entirely possible I missed one or two so hopefully someone will chime in and improve it: SSC Pauline Hawkins (a Pauline Hawkins in...

I'll be there Friday only.

Friends: if you haven't already secured accommodations for Fri and Sat, good luck. I had hoped to stay downtown but the few rooms I could find are out of my range - apparently Vandy has a home game and I waited too late.

Night one casualty here. Just want to say THANK YOU to all of you wonderful folks for taking care of me. I'm fine - just got a little overheated and dehydrated. Sound was outstanding to my ears, from the left of the stage. Early highlights for me included Cooley's guitar on Daddy Needs a Drink and Hood's guitar on Women Without Whiskey. I heard him perform Rachel's Song by James McMurtry. It was at a solo acoustic show at Red Clay in Duluth, GA in June, 2012. I still get chills when I think about it.

Semi-related, have we ever discussed renaming the band? Personally I love the name but if I'm recalling correctly, Patterson has expressed something less than love for the name now. If not Drive-By Truckers then what? CHJ?

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Went to see Lydia Loveless/Old 97's last night (Thursday, May 29) in Atlanta. Lydia was a no-show. I was disappointed but things happen. When I bought the tickets, I felt that the schedule was ambitious/hellish (New Orleans/Atlanta on consecutive nights) but that may have nothing to do with nothing....

This was last Friday, February 28th, Peter Buck/Alejandro Escovedo. Kevin Kinney joined a few minutes later with Honeysuckle Blue (I think Patterson had left at this point but I was not in the best form so if you hear differently from someone else, I'd believe them).

Re: dbt albums-week 6: southern rock opera

In his essay in The Bitter Southerner (http://bittersoutherner.com/patterson-h ... htCdz8bgsI), Patterson writes, "my partner Mike Cooley wrote a fair share, including the two best songs" (referring to SRO).

So, which two are the best in Patterson's opinion?
