Re: Share a song you love right now

For some reason Kenny Rogers’s “You Decorated my Life” has been on repeat in my head for days/weeks! I'm sorry to hear that. Dude.... https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3AY5NCnZyFkCzufBDkdDxT?si=bcd32439366e49ef On Sunday mornings my wife, my stepkids and I blast a playlist like that while we cook a...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

Anecdotally, what are some you seeing regarding inflation and its effect on folks going out and spending ? I buy groceries and I buy gas and diesel, so I know prices are up but I don't see it reflected in people's lifestyles. I follow stock car racing and the series that I follow have seen record cr...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

Now that control of the Senate is a non-issue in Georgia, does Herschel Walker's bid go down in flames because the reality of Walker's lack of qualifications is no longer outweighed by broader concerns, or does the lowered intensity/impact of the race change voters calculations in other as yet unfo...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

I just saw a number that surprised me greatly: The total popular vote for the House is led by Republicans, 52 million to 47 million. That's a lot. I'm not sure what it means (other than nothing electorally). I heard that the reason for that has a lot to do with the number of Republican incumbents w...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

The surprise possibility that Lauren Boebert might lose was perhaps the most delicious moment of all the stories coming out of the election. It looks like it's not going to happen (speaking of slow vote counting!) but oh my, what might have been. Especially if the Dems had been smarter about where ...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

Isn't the area around Ashland and Superior pretty blue, or at least purple ? It is but only about 7K people vote way up there and there are a not a lot of potentials on the way between Wausau and the far northern counties. They don't usually get completely destroyed in Minocqua and maybe Rhinelande...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

Big congrats to the king Fetterman. 🤴🏻 I was also in the camp of expecting far worse so it is what it is. Especially relieved to have Evers win in WI as it was an existential threat to people I know and love if he had not. The oldest child of one of my best friends is trans and they were facing the...

Absolutely. And Fetterman sounded great last night.

Absolutely. And outside of a few races, the far-right, election denier type candidates seem like they are really getting pummeled.

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

So I voted at my longtime precinct this morning. It's a middle school. They moved the location from the gym to the library. I had to use a different entrance that was probably 50 feet from the prior entrance. You couldn't miss it. Everything was well marked, folks were pleasant....no issues. Fast fo...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

Sometimes I think we should just split the country down the middle using the Mississippi River. Give the conservatives one half and the liberals the other. Maybe carve out some space for the independents (the southeast or maybe the pacific northwest). I think I'd actually support this. It's tough. ...

BTW...the senatatorial picture looks really rough for Dems in 2024. I believe they are defending in Montana, Wisconsin, Ohio, West Virginia, maybe a couple more tough spots. We'll always have California. Whether we have forty-one seats in the Senate or not. Sometimes I think we should just split th...

I'm also a little put off by Fetterman staying in the race following his stroke. If this election is as important as he and the dems pretend, they had to know the stroke would have a negative impact and they should have set their egos aside and let Connor Lamb step in to run against Oz. I'd bet Lam...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

My only choice for Democrat senator is a guy who runs TV ads bragging about how he agrees with Trump on trade and China. I can't bring myself to say Trump was right, but it's pretty clear the Bush-Clinton-Bush flash deindustrialization of America sure fucked up the place. If Tim Ryan has to phrase ...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

IMO, Tim Ryan is the best democrat on the ticket. I've heard on podcasts and whatnot that the DNC has spent almost no money on him. I'm not sure if that says more about the state of affairs in Ohio and the country, or how inept the DNC is.

it's probably a copout but social mores and rock stars isn't really comparable from the 70s to the 10s. and there's a reason they called it gangsta rap.
