Q&A with Matt Patton CP: Now you're helping DBT complete their roster. Did they reach out to you? MP: We definitely had a few mutual friends who did most of the work. I got a few emails and texts around the holidays encouraging me to look into it. Considering the sources, I thought enough of it...

Re: Just Hood & Cooley

Well, I guess we hear things differently. I agree that Patterson must be a big country fan. I am not questioning that. The two first DBT albums have a definite alt-country vibe all over them, but imo thats got more to do with the production on Pattersons songs, as I said previously. I think an arti...

Re: Just Hood & Cooley

Hood doing Tom T. Hall and Kraftwerk doing a country song are two totally different things in my opinion. OK, should probably have added smileys after that Kraftwerk comment... That was just an attempt to say that those two songs if you were to play them from the sheet with only the chords and voca...

OK. To some extent on those two first albums, although I suspect it has a lot to do with the productuion; accoustics, steel guitar, banjos... You don't say? Even though it's not on a DBT album, I suggest listening to Patterson's cover of Tom T. Hall's "Pay No Attention To Alice" from Kill...

- If you think of music as a linear scale with rock on one end and country on the other, most of their songs land somewhere in that sweet spot between the 2 extremes of pure rock and pure country. Occasionally, they'll release a song that's pretty far to the rock side of the scale (Lookout Mountain...

Re: Feature of the Week (3/6/12) Punk Rock The Begining

Excellent write-up. Punk was an essential part of my musical "education". I was born 5-10 years late to experience it when it happened, although I remember being slightly shocked by seeing the local punk-acts on TV when I as very young. Some of those acts continued to dominate the scene ov...

Re: Feature of the Week (2/20/12) Johnny Marr

Marr scored The Big Bang. Depending on your tastes, it may be a great bad movie, or just overall terrible. But the cast alone (Sam Elliot! Autumn Reeser! Van Der Beek!) makes it a must watch. http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTgzNjI1MTQyMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwODgyNDk3NA@@._V1._SY317_.jpg I didn't...

If there hasn't been an announcement yet there is probably a reason for not doing so. Most likely they have hired someone for a couple legs of the tour but haven't made a commitment to that player yet. This. Why announce somthing in public if they the band themselves, or even the person(s) in quest...
