Re: New Ryan Adams Album?

can't wait...even if it's 'out there'.... cardinology=crapology? srsly? wow. That shit bored me to tears. Meandering mediocrity. And too many damned self-help platitudes. Easy Tiger stands as a real deal album next to it and that album hasn't aged very well for me (aka I never put it on anymore eve...

Re: New Ryan Adams Album?

if it sounds anything like the "orion" song he posted on his blog site, i'm not looking forward to it. what he said. Dude has put out some stuff that ranks up there on my all-time list but if this is like that awful orion tune, it will be yet another nRA release that I skip out on (like C...

Re: BBQ Thread

I'm getting the smoker ready to go with some loinback ribs for this eve. Going to do a modified 3-2-1 (modified because the babyback take a bit less time than the st louis jobbers) with some apple juice. Going to whip up a basic rub for on them.

Re: Underrated Guitarists

Sorry for the serial postings, but just thought about Bonnie Raitt, which reminded me of Susan Tedeschi, too. Bonnie's a better singer than guitarist, but she can get down when she wants to. Better singer than guitarist??!!!!! Bonnie Raitt????!!! Are you serious???!!! this belongs in the blasphemy ...

I hear you, man. The guitarwork on that album stands among my absolute favorite playing from anyone.

Even though he definitely often comes across as pompous in interviews, Robbie Robertson can play a subtle yet mean guitar. Watch him blow Clapton off the stage:

Re: BBQ Thread

Got a Kentucky Derby party I'm headed to Saturday. Gonna pull out three racks of baby back ribs I plan on rubbing, mopping, and slow cooking for 3 hours on the old Weber. Pure coals and chips. No fucking lighter fluid. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds excellent. Lighter fluid is a barbecue sin if y...

Re: Pets

I love pet threads....on even the worst of days, a quick perusal through, looking at everyone's happy pets melts my coldest of hearts. I've got two pets: Lucy, my dog is about 4 1/2. I got her from the shelter when she was about 7 months old...she'd never been socialized, exposed to anything, or pot...

Re: Best albums of 2010 / the music of 2010

I got Phos's To Willie and loved it - but I went back and got his original material and it was like nails on a chalkboard... I don't love the pre To Willie stuff, but loves me some To Willie. The new one is more along the lines of To Willie and is really pretty fantastic. There are a couple of tune...

well, I see the non-BBQ cooking thread is revived, so I have to bring this one back too. Re: The "Ask the Experts" Thread

TC I'm curious to hear how you like Band of Horses. I always associate them with this , which is pretty damn cool (wait for the part where he, um, engages with the tree). I find them to be trippy and dreamy, which I like sometimes, but with a rock edge, without which I get bored. First listen to Ev...

[quote="UncleFrank23"] Achtung Baby is my favorite U2 album.

And true blasphemy to this board (because there aren't a ton of U2 fans on this board), I actually like both Zooropa and Pop a lot.

I agree with this much of your assessment.

add me to the not getting The National contingency. I went into hearing them really wanting to dig them, but I was left sorely disappointed. I'm in a similar boat with The Hold Steady. Both bore me.

Re: The "Ask the Experts" Thread

On the Band of Horses front, I was really, really slow to warm up to them, but after all of that time they are now one of my favorite bands going today. My wife had the first album and I thought it was ok, but nothing to write home about. If it was on, I wouldn't complain, but it wasn't something I'...
