Re: Go-Go Boots Discussion Thread
Patterson owns this record, but Cooley's contributions are sneaky good. Agree on the Patterson. "Pulaski" is one of Cooley's best songs, period. Can't believe he's been sitting on that for so many years. I think I have a recording of him doing it in '04(?). I'm not as sold on "Cartoo...

Re: The official new album thread (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)
Ok a week has gone by and maybe I can articulate my feelings on the record better. As someone who used to own record stores I could sell this record. It has everything a good album from a relatively unknown artist needs, great songs, lyrics people can relate to and outstanding vocals. On top of tha...

Re: Dream Collaborations
In fairness, those collaborations with Bettye and Booker influenced them to write the type of songs we have on Go-Go Boots, so it's ALL good True. I would welcome a collaboration of some type, but it would have to include them doing their own stuff. I've said for awhile now that they have a session...

so, can anyone give a description of the 930 Club venue.....? Laid out similar to The 40-Watt. Roughly the same size. Bathrooms are in the back, and if you gotta go during the show, forget about making it back up front... It's got a balcony and holds more people than Athens (I think). Good sound, b...

Zip, you hit that on the head.
I LOVE "Scene Of The Crime", and I like "Potato Hole", but the DBT connection is the only thing that drew me to either record. And at the end of the day, I want to hear Patterson, Cooley, and Shonna singing DBT songs...

Re: dbt tracks week 37 - Little Bonnie/Two Daughters
Oh....wow.... never knew the exact background to this song....only what Patterson writes in the liner notes. Imagined it as a father being lost to tragedy of some sort leaving behind his 2 daughters and beautiful wife....definitely a new perspective on the lyrics now. Thanks all. Yeah, the lyric at...

Re: dbt tracks week 37 - Little Bonnie/Two Daughters
Considering all the songs they could have chosen from BTCD, Two Daughters was an incredibly weird choice when the band played the Letterman show a couple of years ago. With the infamous FNW to boot. Do they ever play Little Bonnie these days? They've only played "Little Bonnie" 5 times to...

Re: DBTs Sacrilege: Guest Producers?
Actually Rubin has little to do with the "sound" of the albums he produces. Read just about any interview with anybody he's recorded and they will tell you he does very little except show up and "consult", tell them to play this, don't play that, work on this, that's fine, etc. A...

THIS IS NOT THE ALBUM ARTWORK! I REPEAT: THIS IS NOT THE ALBUM ARTWORK!!! It is a cool pic I found when I googled "Great seal of Alabama" (in the attempt to find an image to use to create a cover), and I'm currently using it as the cover in my iTunes until the official artwork is released...

Re: Jason's thoughts on a DBT "reunion" in Flagpole Magazine
Shit, I'm not "waiting" on a reunion. I'm perfectly fine with how things are. Especially considering how fucking good the new Isbell album is.
And yes, it was a "sit in". But it was a sit-in that moved mountains!

It was a great show last night indeed. One of my friends said this site used my tweet pic on its front page. So I thought I'd check you out. Nice site. Just wanted to add my .02 and say that out of the probably 20 DBT shows I have been to, this was my favorite. The setlist was ridiculously good. I ...

Re: The official new album thread (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)
I'm loving it SO much. I right off the bat like it better than the self-titled (which was a letdown to me after "Sirens"), and time will tell, but I might end up liking it better than "Sirens" too.
"Alabama Pines" is the best song he's ever written. Yeah...I said it!

Re: space city 1/27/11
I wonder what Neff did while Jason was playing. Did he take a break or did they play with 4 guitars? From the pic, it looks like he yielded his spot on the stage. Wonder if it was awkward at all. Take another look at the pic. He's sittin' right there next to/in front of Jason, playin' the pedal ste...
