Re: Montclair NJ show June 11

Psyched for the show but sure wish it was easier to access from Manhattan. Would welcome any info about public transportation (last bus at midnight? does it stop anyway near the theater?). What's the parking situation? Anybody driving from Manhattan have space for two (drinks are on us)? Maybe we sh...

Re: DBT in Rolling Stone's "Best of Rock 2011"

Just got the issue and see that Monsier Fricke also wrote a few hundred words on another of my favorites, Buddy Miller. I guess it's better-late-than-never, but lest we forget, both Miller and the Truckers have long been deserving of some serious coverage. And in this editorial package, their entrie...

Re: DBT in Rolling Stone's "Best of Rock 2011"

It's about freakin' time. I know for a fact that the Truckers have been pitched hard to [i]Stone[i] for the past couple years, but Jaan Wenner kept putting up a red light. Still, having just finished B.B. King's autobiography, I had to chuckle at Patterson bemoaning 200 days on the road. In 1956, B....

Re: The Big Go-Go To-Do Boots

Okay, we're rocking now. But Duke, you're cheating. It's one album now. And Cortez, hey, we gotta give the Cooley some props. And for the record, I feel bad that my best-of doesn't include a Shonna original. But then, an Eddie Hinton song ain't chopped liver.

The Big Go-Go To-Do Boots

Okay, we all know the Truckers cut the tracks to The Big To-Do and Go-Go Boots concurrently and decided to make them into two distinct albums. But truth be told, the material mixes pretty well, and as bands these days hardly ever put out two albums within twelve months, I couldn't resist burning my ...

Re: Pete Seeger's Clearwater Festival

First Peekskill, and now Croton. The Truckers are giving the Hudson Valley a lot of love, but it does seem like a bit of a bizarre booking. I predict a most mellow rock show.

Two sold-out rock shows, a new album, and not a word in The Washington Post. Go figure.

Re: Peekskill 2-17-11

My post was meant as constructive criticism about a band that moves me deeply. Smitty says he likes to let the artist decide how they want to present their work. So Springsteen is not an artist? Does Patterson not like The Big To-Do ? Do you know any successful band that thrives by ignoring their ne...

Re: Peekskill 2-17-11

Spent a wonderful week with my favorite band, having caught two quite different shows at the Bowery and in Peekskill. The rockier Bowery show properly focused on Go-Go Boots , which was only appropriate as it was its day-of-release. The relatively-mellower, country-tinged Peekskill show cut across a...

Re: Bowery Ballroom 2/15 and Troubador 3/7

Year-long lurker, first-time poster. Anybody know if there's an opening act at the Bowery? Also, still no opener listed for Peekskill. Could we be looking at two long rock shows?
