In for two night in Brooklyn, which will give me strength when I read all the posts from Homecoming.

Re: Fall Tour Dates! (Now thru November)
Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of strange that the Truckers aren't playing any shows to coincide with the release of the live album (not to mention Halloween)? I had my fingers crossed for a proper NYC rock show, and presumed it would be announced after opening for the Shakes at Forest Hills...

Re: Fall Tour Dates! (Now thru November)
No love for New York…yet. I've got my fingers crossed for a NYC rock show around the live album release date, and figure that it won't be announced until after the September Forest Hills date with the Shakes.

Given the October 30 release date, any predictions on where DBT will be playing on that night (and Halloween)? I've got to think (okay, hope) that NYC will be getting some rock show love in November.

"Got an itch that needs scratching' but it feels all right," sang Patterson during last night's rock show. "Got the need to blow it out in Tarrytown tonight." Mission accomplished. Nice seeing some familiar faces, and thanks for introducing yourself, Jonicont. Never knew there was a doctor in the ho...

Re: Too many seats open at Tarrytown!!!
I know I'm in the minority in regards to the issue of the importance of standing at a Trucker shows, but from the first time I saw the band from amidst a sweaty crowd at Irving Plaza in NYC, I was looking forward to seeing them in theaters with superior sound and sight lines. To not go to a show bec...

Re: Too many seats open at Tarrytown!!!
I'm coming down from Woodstock for the rock show at the same theater where I'd go to Saturday afternoon matinees as a kid. Out of curiosity, I checked to see how other shows over the next week were selling in comparison to the Truckers. A Jimmy Vaughan show appears to be selling less than the Trucke...

Re: March shows!
Just copped a ticket for Tarrytown (at the theater where I used to see movies as a kid). Be advised that you can buy tickets from the Tarrytown Music Hall site; I'd foolishly been waiting for them to be available at Front Gate, thinking that "early" tickets were only available to Music Hal...

I agree with everything Rev. Matt said regarding the Truckers' show, but feel compelled to add that Kitty Carlisle Hart, while best known as a quiz show personality, also had a long career on stage and in the movies. She even briefly sang with the Metropolitan Opera. More pertinent to the name of th...

Re: DBT at NYC"S Beacon Theatre on Oct. 17
I was in the loge, which was about 60 percent full. The orchestra looked more like 80 percent. Don't know about the balcony, which was likely much less populated. Frankly, it seemed like an odd time for the band to makes it Beacon debut, having already played the New York market twice this year (onc...

Re: ALBANY, NY 10/19
Caught shows in NYC and Albany this weekend, and have come to think of the very different shows as my "Beacon 'n' Eggs" tour. I'm going to contrast the two shows in a blog post later this week, but wanted to make a few immediate comments about the Albany concert. As previously noted, this ...

I second Wolf's request for "After the Scene Dies," with a doleful dedication to rock in general, and to such sadly departed Manhattan venues as the Bottom Line, the Lakeside Lounge, and the Rodeo Bar.

I saw my first show at NYC's Irving Plaza (with Jason) in 2004, and thought, "Man, I can't wait to see these guys at the Beacon." Next week's Beacon show with be my 20th. Two days later, I'll turn 21 in Albany.

Re: DBT at NYC"S Beacon Theatre on Oct. 17
Presale for center orchestra at the Beacon is sold out…DBT ticketing must not have a very large allotment, so I guess I'll risk a wait for the general sales (with the higher service charge). Meanwhile, just copped a pair of third row tickets for The Egg in Albany.

What a nice surprise. The very first time I saw the Truckers, a sublime 2002 show (with Jason Isbell) at Irving Plaza, I thought to myself that I couldn't wait to see them at a nice theater like the Beacon (not to mention the Ryman). Frankly, I'm a little surprised about the timing given that this'l...

Re: DBT on Long Island 6/28
Caught my third show of the current tour on Saturday night, and while some highlights were quite special, I must admit that ranking wise, it came in behind the show at TR3 in Manhattan and my fave at Toad's Place in New Haven. My primary problem was the co-bill with the Hold Steady, who leave me mos...

Re: DBT on Long Island 6/28
I'm kind of joking, but also not going to let the family kill my buzz-- after all, one of them will be the designated driver. And even the Streisand and MJ fans have a good time seeing my blues-rock band. I also suspect my wife's older brother, a classic rocker, will be my ace in the hole, and perha...

Since this show is in my wife's family's home turf, we've encouraged her brother (and Streisand-fan) wife, and niece (and Michael Jackson-fanatic husband) to join us at the rock show. Can't wait for the big to-do, but also can't help but wonder if it'll serve to reaffirm my status as the family outl...

Altogether a terrific show, with killer renditions of (among others) "Lookout Mountain" and "Hell No I Ain't Happy." Cooley played and sang as good as I've ever seen; it feels like his new batch of songs has put him on a natural high. I'm not a particular fan of the band improvis...

Motoring to New Haven tomorrow (and NYC on Thursday) to catch my first rocks show since a Northeast triple play last spring. Booked a cheap motel to avoid a wee-hour drive home and had to chuckle when I had the option of saving 10% with my AARP card. As the song goes, "it's fucking great to (st...

I understand your point, Bill, but also know lots of NYC dwellers who don't consider those venues "local." Of course, for most on this board, they might as well be around the corner. I'm just grumbling because I see Buffalo and Philly and figure I'll just be waiting for next time.

Although I’m now in the high teens in terms of DBT shows attended, I’ve never gone to the Athens Homecoming, or seen more than two shows in a week. That changed last week as I followed the band from Northhampton to Port Chester and Montclair. Here are a few thoughts on my first multiple night immers...
