Re: What's Everyone Drinking?

It was poker night last night so I took a flyer and picked up a bottle of this stuff. I had low expectations but I really enjoyed it. The nose was similar to fine agave tequila but the flavor and finish was completely different. I'll finish the bottle and would drink it again except for the over-the...

Re: Books Thread

That's funny BTB, because Cornwell ruined TH White and just about every other author on the subject for me. I did like Rosemary Sutcliffe's Sword At Sunset though. I have a hard time appreciating the classic mythological or fantasy inspired Arthurian works. I like Cornwell and Sutcliffe because they...

Jim Harrison's latest two novella book The River Swimmer Bernard Cornwell's The Pagan Lord (rereading the whole series again, actually) Robert MacFarlane's The Old Ways - a book about traveling ancient roads and paths in Britain by foot Harrison is a brilliant writer, but he always makes me feel clo...

Re: Live Oak question

I've never come to a conclusion about what happened, but I lean towards it being an accident or unexpected. Not sure why, but the resigned tone of the narrator leads me towards bad luck vs. bad actions. This is one of my favorite songs from Southeastern for several reasons, not the least of which is...

Uncle Tupelo, Lou Reed and classic David Bowie over here. Waiting for spring to dive into the new Kozolek.

Every cloud has silver linings, but holy hell there were a lot of clouds in 2013. When the bell rung, I felt like a boxer in need of a good cut man.
Here's to another lap around the sun in 2014, hopefully with fewer bumps and potholes.

Impossible questions. Jason gets the nod for killing it on so many classic solos but Neff...where would we be without his killer steel?

Jay is okay, but he's nowhere near the guitarist that Jason or Neff was.

The guy is a showman. You can't fault him for trotting a good anecdote, even if the location changes. I do like what MNGS717 said about the origin of I've got green and I got blue. It works for me!

I hear you on that, but I have to say Fight Songs is a great road trip album. Especially for times when you're fading but still have hours to go.

The Old 97s always put on a good show. Rhett is definitely a pretty boy, but he always gets the ladies dancing. My favorite part of their set was watching lead guitarist Ken Bethea. That guy is a monster with a Telecaster.

It's always fun to got to the RAWK SHOW! It was a full house and even though I was lucky enough to have VIP tickets I chose to get down in the mix. I saw a bunch of you 3DDers hooting and hollering front and center. Clams, sorry I couldn't buy you that drink but you looked like you were in good hand...

I recently saw "Winter's Bone" - an Academy Award nominated film starring Jennifer Lawrence. It's based on the book by Daniel Woodrell, and man, it was really good. My love for Jennifer Lawrence aside, it's a gritty story set in the Ozarks. http://www.wintersbonemovie.com/ Heavy duty count...
