Re: Cooley Solo Record

Wow, just amazing news. Especially since he has always said he does not want to go through the hassle to make and promote a solo album. I guess if it's mostly a live album the "making" part was fairly easy.

Album cover suggestions, anyone?

Re: Cooley on the "harp" - A&F and other instruments

There is a still photo in TSTAHE of an obviously pretty long-ago show in which he's playing trombone. Always wondered if that was some kind of gag or if he can really play trombone. Pretty talented guy, that's for sure, regardless.

Re: "Extensive Gay Listenership"

I'm pretty sure marklynn's proposition of a Marriage Equality Tour is a well-timed joke, but I'll chime in and say that while there are probably several topics that Patterson and I disagree on, I damn sure support his right to voice his opinion, and I most definitely enjoy hearing him do so. He's pa...

Re: DBT track # 112-- Mama Bake a Pie, Daddy Kill a Chicken

Pretty sure we got this in Aspen, 2009, shortly after TFP came out. When I was little growing up just south of Nashville a big Saturday night was my parents going out and my little brother and me getting to watch Hee Haw in front of the TV with a frozen dinner. Tom T. Hall was someone from that era ...

Re: Grand Targhee music festival

So tired. Got home about 3 hours ago after an eight and a half hour drive today. My nine year old has not stopped talking, literally, since we walked in the door. What a weekend. Much has been written here about the pros and cons of seeing your favorite band at a festival. Too many people who don't ...

Once at work (we play Sirius through the clinic; epic battles have been fought over the right to control the channel, but I digress) I stopped doing what I was doing because something that was playing caught my ear. I said to myself, hey, somebody is covering the Drive-By Truckers; who IS this??? To...

Bumping this thread up to its rightful place at the top. We are a mere 6 days away from what is an all-too-rare occurrence in 2012. Just spent the last 2 hours getting the gear organized for this trip. Gonna be a beautiful 4 days off (in a row! pinch me!) in the Tetons with my man, some of my best f...

I met my husband in 1986. He was fresh out of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, and while he's not from Alabama, he had many, many fraternity brothers from the many podunk towns all around the state. I remember him saying to me early in our relationship, no doubt while we were in some bar, &q...

Track of the Week - The Night G.G. Allin Came to Town

In my humble opinion, you can’t begin to judge or understand this song without first understanding its back story, so consider the following to be a prerequisite to any discussion about this song. The setup for G.G. Allin starts at about 6:25 into Tales Facing Up in this recording of a solo Patterso...

This discussion makes me remember a World Cafe interview back during the BTCD tour. The interviewer's (Michaela Majoun) frequently awkward questions left the field wide open for several hilarious one-liners form Cooley. The best was when she noted that they had a lot of "songs about cars",...

I have only seen Jason solo 3 times but the fact that I have never heard him do either song during shows where he plays about 60% DBT songs suggests that maybe he thinks these are sub-par as well.

Hey all, Still new to DBT and recently discovered their cover of "Like a Rolling Stone." Is there any other song where the four of them (or any lineup of DBT) trade off lead vocals? Still exploring! Love, love, love that cover. Especially Cooley's verse. I wish they would trade off verses...
