Re: Georgia Theater 8/23 & 8/24

Some good pics here, in spite of the Dexateens' guitarist being mis-identified:

I think one is of Bill?

Re: cooley record store day single

I did pick up an extra that I would be glad to send to a good home, just pm me. I'm not on fb so I don't know what is being said about the quality and I can't play it today as my turntable and speakers are in different zip codes (long story). I did the download. SDZ is really rocking. The crowd nois...

Re: Paradise, Boston, 3/13/13

TC, you’re right about SDZ – I misread the signal once for When the Pin Hits the Shell. At The Tabernacle in ATL, Patterson began the story about Gregory Dean Smalley and Matt gave Cooley a “What’s coming up?” look (he could have asked anyone in the first few rows). Cooley’s lips responded, “Living ...

I enjoyed this (probably got from this board) - Chris Hillman at the Library of Congress. He gets into Sin City around 44:00.

Re: Athens Homecoming Shows January 17, 18 & 19 2013

I admit it: electric bass in DBT has been an afterthought for me until now. Yeah, it was there and it was nice but Matt Patton has heightened my awareness and expectation of all that it can be. Sounds similar to other life experiences (sex, weed, etc.).

Re: My First Homecoming

Hey y'all - Paige here. Thank you for letting me share Thursday and Friday of Homecoming 2013 with you. I enjoyed your review, Kevin - a weekend we all needed together, indeed. I've never been taken with a band the way I am with DBT. I listened to them exclusively (seriously) for many years and then...

Re: Craig Lieske Memorial Thread

I was blessed, as were many others, to have benefitted from Craig's kindness, generosity and wit. He had a gift for being able to read people and was an integral part of the DBT concert experience for me and my husband. I attended solo last night and Craig took time to ask about my husband, listen t...

Effigy - Patterson lead vocals.
Inversely, I'd like to hear John Fogerty take on That Man I Shot. I think there's another thread for that but I'm too damn sorry to find it.

Re: Favorite album(s)

Favorite has everything to do with place and time, as mentioned by previous posters. Decoration Day "saved my life." The others that seem to get more frequent turns: John Hiatt - Crossing Muddy Waters. Haven't clicked with anything else he's ever done but this one, to me, is simple and pro...

Re: SOTW #104 - Strutter

Many years ago, probably close to two decades, the gang at Gautreau's dressed as KISS one Halloween. Had to be very close to the time period that Patterson was working there. Becky was usually our server but I have to believe that Patterson likely served us blackened catfish or barbecue shrimp or cr...

fistfights, I'm even later to the party - no surprise to my husband. We were there for Saturday only. I thought the sound was very good. Highlights for me: - Brad doubling up the percussion with Centro-matic. - Cooley's solo on Box of Spiders - outstanding. - Hood and Cooley walking offstage with th...

Re: After It's Gone (Patterson and the Athens 13)

If having a grocery store within walking distance to downtown is such a big issue why not a cooperative? It could probably be done in conjunction with the university. The farmers would benefit. Hire local people. That is much more in the spirit of what I have always been led to believe that Athens ...

Opened with I Do Believe, I do believe. Setlist flowed well for me. I'm generally PD/ SRO/ DD-centric but really, I love it all. There's something for every mood and whenever I hear something I haven't listened to in a while, it's like catching up with an old friend and wondering why I took so long ...

Re: DBT Tracks #66- "I Do Believe"

DBT performed at Yo Gabba Gabba Live in ATL last fall. A friend of mine told me she was taking her children and I absolutely wracked my brain (doesn't take much) about what song DBT would perform at a children's show. Afterwards, she told me that they performed the song about Patterson's grandmother...

The diversity is why I can't pick favorites and why I listen to DBT exclusively 90%+ of the time these days - there's something for every mood/occasion.
