Re: He was a Marine
This is the best performance of this song EVER. This is what being a songwriter is all about. He delivers this song with just his voice and his guitar and it's amazing.

Re: Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy at the Pour House (NC) 5.13.14
...and most casual music fans won't go to a show by someone they don't know a lot about...even if the price is reasonable or free...they'd rather go listen to a shitty cover band or DJ than take a chance on an original band that they haven't heard of...

Re: Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy at the Pour House (NC) 5.13.14
People don't know when shows are going on too. Advertising is virtually non-existent, which is inexcuseable in this digital world. I've missed many bands I'd love to see, and I follow venues and artists I like on the social media sites, and many times they don't even put info on those websites. Then...

Re: Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy at the Pour House (NC) 5.13.14
My band played to about 15 people once, and one guy came up to the stage between songs and demanded his money back because we wouldn't play any CCR. Our lead guitarist told him to get the f**k out of here and go start his own band, which got a good laugh fromt the other 14 people in attendance.

Re: Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy at the Pour House (NC) 5.13.14
I appreciate the Rev's heads up as I definitely would have been disappointed if I had shown up and there was no Neff but as it stands, it still turned out to be a very solid show (even if there was low attendance). She said they hoped to play on a weekend next time. If so, hopefully the turnout wil...

Re: Shonna Tucker & Eye Candy at the Pour House (NC) 5.13.14
I think it's wrong to adverstise a gig as "Shonna Tucker and Eye Candy" and then show up with essentially a completely different band. I don't know why she's playing with a different band, but she should just advertise it as "Shonna Tucker" if that's going to be the case.

Neff and Bo are not touring with Eye Candy. It is a four piece with a different guitarist. I caught them last night in NYC. I thought it was a good sounding band but no Neff on pedal steel.
That's weird...wonder why? Different drummer too it seems???

Just wanted to chime in that i'm loving the addition of the Hamond to these tracks. Also, listening to PPOM the other day, when the line, 'turning mountains into oceans, putting people on the moon' went by, made me think that the 'Made Up English Oceans' is a reference to the TVA lakes throughout t...

13 - 14 kHz probably explains why I don't hear it. I did a sweep once and mine starts dropping at around 9 - 10. . I don't hear crickets. The high frequency may explain why it wasn't detected. It's pretty common that the higher frequencies go when people get older. Don't know if it's common practic...

I'm glad none of these were on EO.
The Patterson songs would've all worked on a solo album, or maybe a different DBT album but not this one.

Altough I have to say that his solo on "Primer Coat", to me, is the best guitar solo on English Oceans by a mile. It's great, but the solos on Pauline Hawkins and Hearing Jimmy Loud are pretty awful But that's gotta be Cooley, right? The solo on PH I'm kinda warming up to a little bit, bu...

There's tape hiss, amp hum, bleed through from playing in a live room. I love it all I don't mind any of those. It's the high pitched squeal on Natural Light and the sibilance on First Air of Autumn (that would be easy to ignore if it didn't cut in and out) I think the squeal on natty light is Cool...

It's a shame that the sibilance stayed on the final master, but I'll do my best to ignore it. Yeah, I wish I was in the group of folks who can't hear it. Luckily it's only on two tracks (at least that I can notice). I'll tell you one thing though, I am grateful the Truckers gave us another amazing ...
