my problem w/ repeated listenings to music that doens't quite grab initially is there is SO MUCH stuff to listen to, both new and old...i've only got 2 ears and so many hours to listen to stuff... And there's the problem with so much stuff: The stuff that creeps on you gets less and less chance to ...

Taxes finally done and filed. More than 48 hours before the absolute drop dead deadline, pretty amazing by my standards, lol. I've got till Monday? Whew! That's a relief. I'm going to take a nap now. And why am I so tired? I took the Arkandaughter down to the Occupy Little Rock march. We had a good...

Re: Secret Panel Can Put Americans on on "Kill List"
I don't understand why this is news or shocking. What about the Patriot Act or the AUMF? Guantanamo ? And since this information hasn't been released yet, you don't know what kind of intel the NSC or Obama had to go on. Well for one thing, Obama campaigned against Guantanamo and many of the, ahem, ...

Was totally going to until I found out I was going to be judging at Arabian Nationals in Tulsa the same weekend. Life is not fair. Tulsa is a beautiful city (really) with lots and lots of Art Deco and other modern architecture, two good museums, and two great venues (Cain's Ballroom and the Brady T...

After one particularly great night at the Fillmore, I was leaving as slowly as I possibly could (and speaking of nice people, thanks to Craig for keeping me from getting thrown out for over-enthusiasm during the process), and while I was at the bottom of that staircase the last of us were herded dow...

Shuffle, see NIN live. That's the way I was before a live show. I want to, and wish I could. But they haven't toured here since '07, and they're not touring at all any more, right? Way down in this article (which is worth reading in its own right) there's a parenthetical suggestion which might help...

If you've ever listened to Lou Reed's live album "Take No Prisoners," you get a feel for Lou Reed's personality. He's pretty cynical, hostile and high strung and he blasts everyone from rock critics to the Warhol crew. Of course, he's probably on several different substances as he can't t...

Just because something is American doesn't make it good, and just because something is unamerican doesn't make it bad.

Is it absolute fact that the album was released 9/12/01? I ask because I have a memory of buying SRO and Love and Theft the night of 9/11/01 and driving back from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham listening to Love and Theft. I'm sure I bought it that day, but I'm no longer so sure about SRO.

That was a pretty good show. I noticed one interesting thing: Patterson seems to have trouble singing some of the backing vocals when he isn't playing guitar. Do you mean in regard to his hand injury or when he is on keys? The former. Here's a longer version: A couple of times last night it seemed ...
