Re: English Oceans Reviews

I read it to mean "you might be singing and contributing songs now, but I've been here longer and my opinion still carries more weight," assuming Shonna was using her larger role in the band to start trying to play more of a role in the decision making process.

Re: Those Five Bonus Tracks

I just hope it's studio outtakes and not live versions, or at least mostly studio tunes if it is a mix of the two.

Re: DBT Rank 'Em - Album Closers

1. Goddamn Lonely Love
2. World of Hurt
3. Angels & Fuselage
4. Mercy Buckets
5. Grand Canyon
6. Loaded Gun

7. Monument Valley
8. GG Allin
9. Eyes Like Glue
10. Sandwiches for the Road

In my mind, there's a pretty big disparity between 1-6 and 7-10.

Re: Jason Isbel-Jefferson Theater, Charlottesville 12/31/201

Well put. Jason's voice sounded better than I've ever heard it, and the show -- while maybe a little saggy in the middle for New Year's Eve with all of the acoustic songs in a row -- was phenomenal. His vocals on Cover Me Up, the DBT tunes, and the gorgeous version of Elephant were probably the high...

Re: English Oceans Discussion Thread

In honor of being graced with a download, I'll post my thoughts real quick: 1.) I wasn't a huge Shonna hater while she was putting tunes on records -- I looked at it as kind of a developmental project that just never developed -- but it's a relief to not have to wait through one of her songs for the...

Re: New Album Clue?

So... Will there be any Jay or Matt songs on 12? I hope not. I'm looking at this to be a bounce-back album (I'm not really a Go-Go Boots fan), and I'm hoping for a purely Hood and Cooley record (a lot of Cooley involvement would be an added plus, especially from the sound of the new songs I heard h...

Re: Super 8

Has Isbell ever shed any light on why John Henry has never been a regular part of his post-DBT repertoire? I know he's played it at a few solo acoustic shows, but I miss hearing it given the full band treatment.

Re: Cooley Capital Ale House Richmond Sunday, June 23

Long time listener, first-time caller. I'll echo everything that's already been said. This one was special. He played pretty much all of the Cooley standards over the course of an hour and 40 minutes (save for Shut Up... and Space City), the three new ones, and Everybody Needs Love. Everything sound...

I've always really liked this tune, and wish it was still in Jason's full-band repertoire.

that's a fantastic set. kind of disappointed, because a lot of those (World of Hurt, GGB, Carl Perkins, Feb 14) were ones I was hoping for in Richmond. one day off!
