Re: The Search for the Perfect Record

If it wasn't for that godawful white noise at the end of "Less than You Think", A Ghost is Born would be perfect. This is good posting right here. Someone mentioned The Cars debut. It's pretty nearly perfect for what it was attempting to be. I think you could make that same point with any number of...

Re: Wilco.

I'm not sure I can think of anything better than the first nine songs of "A Ghost is Born." Maybe side one of "Moondance."

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Going to see Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt tonight. I've seen Lyle with the Large Band twice, but never in the singer/songwriter style like this. First time to see John Hiatt, a long-time favorite.

Re: Artist of the Week 5/3/2011- R.E.M. 1982-1985

Folks I'm sorry for the tardiness of this AotW. Also this one is a little different, it's the story of my short yet meaningful obsession with R.E.M. January 1983, it was the beginning of spring semester at Eastern Illinois University. I was out with friends at a bar who's name escapes me when I hea...

I am pretty new to 3DD. Threads like this will make me want to stick around. I really enjoyed reading all this stuff from way back.

Re: Jason's Discarded Songs

I was surprised when I saw him in December by how the last two albums dominated the show. He did three DBT songs, seven from Southeastern, Six from SMTF and two from HWR. Plus a cover. None from his first two albums. It speaks to the quality of the last two albums, but also is a nod to his newfound ...

Re: DBT Article - 5 things (you already knew)

My job is running a communications department of a government entity. The girl who writes most of our press releases brings drafts for me to edit and approve. She jokes that I am the foremost expert on hyphens in Louisiana, since I am always correcting her releases to include or remove hyphens. Gues...

Re: Sturgill Simpson Thread

The SNL performance is one for the ages. In Call to Arms, Sturgill and the band slowly come to the realization that they are slaughtering it and they begin to smile. Their movements become more confident and they clearly are inspired and feeding off each other. By the time the last trumpet solo is u...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

New guy here. I found DBT about 8-9 years ago from Warren Zevon's website. Somebody on the message board there posted a DBT version of Play It All Night Long. I investigated and they became my favorite band for about a year (I have a tendency to find somebody new to me and immerse myself in them 100...
