I appreciate all the replies. I got curious and googled guitarists who don't use pedals and I was surprised that Ian MacKaye (love his stuff) does not. A lot of the forums I visited had quite lively debates about using pedals. I think this horse is dead but I did learn something.

So how are guitarists viewed in terms of those that use a lot of pedals vs. those that play more "raw" for lack of a better term? Or is that even a legit question?
