Re: HeAthens Homecoming 3/29-4/1 2023

Experiencing Homecoming feels like a good idea. Good instincts. HIghly recommended. Don't know whether this is a carrot or a stick, but dinner or at least drinks are on me if you make it there. Oh thats a carrot for sure. And I'll also buy drinks. Totally off topic, but at this point in the WC proc...

Re: HeAthens Homecoming 3/29-4/1 2023

I'm considering this.

I wanted to come over to the states for some shows in 2020 but obvs that didn't happen. Experiencing Homecoming feels like a good idea.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Dylan, then John Cale two days later. Can't wait. How's ol' Bob holding up? I saw him again last week. This tour has been a lot more impressive than the last few times I've seen him. The new songs sound fantastic, the band are excellent. There's no sense that he's just messing about, which I've had...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

You could very easily make the opposing argument here. Truss would never have won an actual general election. She was always an absurd choice. But she became leader of her party and therefore leader of her country anyway. Whatever the limitations of the US system, a President can legitimately claim...

Brian Klaas arguing in The Atlantic that Truss's fall is actually an indication that democracy in the UK is in better shape than in the US: "Paradoxically, Truss’s downfall shows that British democracy is still working. Polarization is so toxic in the U.S. that Trump never dipped below about 35 per...

Re: The Neverending Thread for Political Shit

As for Brexit I continue to believe that a return to the fold by the UK is inevitable. I just don't know the scenario it will follow or the timing of it. Agree with this bit. And i think the history books will cite today as the moment it became inevitable. But thats obvs a long term prediction.

Not quite up there with, say, predicting the Mets 1969 World Championship in April of that year, but still, you heard it here first.
Could you please predict "reversal of Brexit and final destruction of the conservative party" next?

Paul Krugman asks, "So why the sudden run on the pound? One answer I liked came from the City of London economist Dario Perkins, who declared that the problem with the budget wasn’t that it was inflationary but that it was “moronic,” and that an economy run by morons has to pay a risk premium." Re: RIP Wes Freed

Awful news. Of the two newbies I've managed to get interested in DBT's music, in both cases the first step was them spotting a Wes Freed record cover, then having to pick it up and ask what the band were like. Perfect combination of artwork and sound and a huge loss. My thoughts are with anyone on h...

The anti elitist have to overlook the several categories of elite that Trump is a part of: Rich (by way of inheritance to boot), Ivy League degree, NYC born, bred and mostly lived. Plus his Ivy league degree was bought by his father. I've always thought the bought degree and obvious lack of genuine...

Elizabeth Nelson put her piece up on twitter. Someone replied quoting the DJ John Peel's description of The Fall.

"Always different, always the same."

Which is indeed a pretty good description of DBT too.
tinnitus I believe that is your cue.

Hey 305. Are you still going to this show? Holler if you’d like to hang with Europeans. I love hanging with Europeans but unfortunately I can't make it. That riff is addictive. I'm finding it a little strange that the first "single" was the title track. Its a decent song but Flameout and Driver have been a big step up and suggest a really strong album. In my teens and early 20s, I took Exile and the rest of that 1968-72 canon so seriously that I refused to see the Stones live (it would have been Bridges to Babylon era) because I thought I'd be incredibly disappointed.
