Re: Setlist (or lack thereof) question

I've wondered about the "medleys" (hell no/sign, buttholeville/trooper) myself but i have no clue how that works other than to say that Patterson sings lead on both and he seems to have his ways of signaling the band that are not easy for the uninitiated to pick up. From what I can tell the middle ...

Re: Setlist (or lack thereof) question

I remember the night Levon passed away, the band was playing at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. They had the lyrics to The Weight attached to a few monitors (if I recall, they traded verses). Tracy & I were at that show. And no, it wasn't me who tried to snatch the lyrics lol (not sure why anyone wou...

Re: Setlist (or lack thereof) question

Also I noticed there was a sheet taped to Patterson’s monitor during set up at Thalia, not saying it was a set list but the roadie was awfully quick to flip it over while setting up. 1. There's zero chance it was a setlist. 2. Usually when there's a sheet taped to the monitors it's lyrics to a new ...

I'm guessing soundchecks. But that's just a guess (though a somewhat educated one).

Thanks, Tim
It's a nice enough venue. Beer is pricey and security can be a bit overzealous at times.

I think we're going to try to slip down to that Myrtle Beach show on the 12th even though I'm not a fan of Myrtle Beach or that House of Blues venue. The Wheels of Soul Tour is hitting Raleigh the next night but I'm pretty sure we're going to skip that one.

Re: Thalia Hall Chicago 4/6 and 4/7 (Both Sold Out)

Looking at this setlist reminded me that Cooley has so many great songs that he never plays. I was thinking the other day about how many of his BTCD songs that he seems to have just totally left behind. And that's just one record. Cooley seems to have settled into a small batch of songs that he rot...

Re: DBT tracks week 16 Tales Facing Up

Patterson introduced this song the other night in Philly as "our little Fuck You to Hank Jr." I don't think I've heard about a Hank Jr connection to this song before. Anyone know what's up with this? Sidenote: It's kinda hard to believe that I started this thread about 8 years ago. He intro...

Re: Brooklyn Bowl 3/29/18 & 3/30/18

"Bummers"? I'd have liked to have heard Jay better. From audience right, his guitar was a rumor, and his keyboards were inaudible. I hope they balance that in the house mix tonight. (Standing right in front of the vocal monitor surely did not help!) One of the few (only?) downsides of being upfront...

I try to self-enforce a rule to not listen to recordings of new songs, so that the first time I experience them is either live or on record. But goddamned if I don't want to hear a new Cooley song this evening. I'm pretty lucky, the first time I heard it was live. Liked it immediately. After listen...

Some general thoughts from the Wilmington, NC show last night: 1. I didn't keep a setlist but I saw at least 2 people recording the show & I'm hoping Tyler kept one. 2. The early curfew kept the show to right at 2 hours but the band definitely took advantage of the time they had. 3. Highlights for m...
