Re: RIP LBROD

Chatted with him at Shoals Fest at the beginning of October. The last time I saw him, I was on the way to the bathroom mid-show and spotted him in a lawn chair. He'd set up at a spot where he had zero hope of catching any glimpse of the stage, but he was leaned back with his eyes closed and looked r...

Re: Spotify hits the US

Or, put another way, what is our responsibility, individually and collectively, to the musicians who give* us so much? *Multiple meanings intended. If I find an album that I really like on Spotify, I buy the album because I'm old school and like having physical copies. For a whole lot of music I al...

Re: Dexateens -lots of info here

Been listening to Dexateens live at Egan's. June 2, 2011. If I could time travel, I'd hit Egan's to see this show. Egan's Bar was one of the only good things in Tuscaloosa, AL. (full disclosure, I went to Auburn). After graduation, a best friend was still going to school at Bama and I'd go visit fro...

Re: 2022 Nuci's/Homecoming fundraiser and DVD/Blu-Ray offer

Very excited to see this one. This was a mighty fine show, and I remember being kinda bummed when it wasn't "released" for the following year's fundraiser. I was very happy to get the Dimmer Twins show that year, but I'd worried this one would never be available. I'm looking forward to reliving this...

I just noticed that Atlanta Rhythm Section is playing the 40 Watt just a couple of weeks after homecoming. This would be a good year to hear Road Cases with the story.

Re: The Cowboy has a new heart

RedCelt's wife sent me screenshots of Facebook updates throughout as Lurleen posted them Friday into Saturday into Sunday. So happy it worked out for TC and so thankful for his organ donor. Dr. John, if one wanted to become an organ/tissue donor and had recently renewed their driver's license withou...

Show was fantastic. Saw TC and Lurleen and Mike from Kentucky and Graham the Ghost. RedCelt and wife came down from North Carolina for the show. Missed hanging out with Beaverdam and FIL who didn't make it to this one. It was truly wonderful. Excellent set list. Band came out swinging. There's alway...

Re: RIP Smitty

Back on the last page, someone was talking about Smitty's vast knowledge of music and his gift at story-telling. Those are the things I will remember most about him. As well as seeing him after shows in Athens when he was drenched and spent and you knew he'd enjoyed the hell out of the show.

I've only been there once. It is outdoors, and there is an outdoor music curfew if I remember correctly. It's not a huge venue (I've never been to Scoot Inn, so can't compare), but nice. They have some good beer, particularly the Train Hopper Pale Ale if you're into pale ale. There are some decent r...

That was James Franklin (until last week), whose achilles heel was never being able to win road games against Top 25 teams. Don't know if that Wisconsin win was a blip or a sign of improvement I thought Penn State was pretty overrated coming into the season but winning in Camp Randall is almost alw...

Johnny Cash would have knocked a cover of this song out of the park.

I had no idea this was coming out until it popped up as a Spotify recommendation tonight. The excessive calls for audience participation get kinda old in a couple of songs, but it catches Hartford at his quirky/crazy best.
