Re: Fall Tour Dates (with Lydia Loveless!)

Wife and I decided to go to the Pacific Northwest for our anniversary and it coincides with the Seattle show. Showbox is a cool venue, I take it?

Re: Tommy Stinson

The show sold out almost immediately but Tommy Stinson will be playing the Cave in Chapel Hill on Saturday, July 30th. Skylar Gudasz opens. Props to Schoolkids Records for putting that one together. He's at Normaltown Hall in Athens the next night. Wish I could get over there for that. I saw him at...

Re: Mudcrutch Album & Tour

Saw the Atlanta show last night, total blast. These guys look like they're having the time of their lives, Petty most of all. Didn't keep a set list, but they played most if not all of the songs from both albums. Crowd was really into it, although a lot of them didn't seem to know when they might wa...

Playing a limited number of shows for BAGIA 10th anniversary this fall. Said they had the delay the announcement with the full details while they work things out with their co-conspirators. DBT doesn't have anything listed after mid-September. Total speculation, but...maybe Rock And Roll Still Means...

Not to derail the thread, but I saw Steve Martin & Martin Short (and the Steep Canyon Rangers) on Sunday and it was awesome. Just two hours of pure entertainment and laughs, well worth it if you get a chance to see them. Actually, I can bring this back around because the show was at the Fox, where P...

Saturday night Live aired a great compilation of Prince's appearances on the show, along with some lame Fred Armisen as Prince sketches.

Jump, Little Children

Great story on Bitter Southerner this week about a band from Charleston that almost broke through. JLC is my wife's all-time favorite band, and we saw them six times on their reunion tour last December. Great songwriting & musicianship and they came so close. Definitely worth checking to their album...

Mrs. Caddy and I caught the Atlanta stop of the River tour last night. There's a lot I can say but I'll keep it brief and leave it at this. Last weekend Patterson talked about seeing Bruce in Mississippi when he was 16 on the original River tour and how that show saved his life, I get it now. They ...

Blind Willie Johnson Tribute Album

I backed this on Kickstarter a couple of years back and it's coming out now. Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Cowboy Junkies, Blind Boys of Alabama and more. Giving it a listen now and so far everybody's knocked it out of the park. I also read up on Blind Willie's life, which I don't recommend you do if...

Life happened, as it does sometimes, and I was only able to get to the Saturday night show and none of the gatherings beforehand, but what a show. Whenever I see them play it feels like the best show I'm ever going to see, and then they always outdo it the next time. Five Eight and Will Johnson did ...

In for Nights 2 and 3, already had tickets to see Wilco in ATL on Night 1. If you'd asked me my dream line-up for the Homecoming shows, having Will Johnson, Dave Marr, and Five-Eight as the openers would have been it.

Same thing happened here. I was trying to tell my wife about this last night, but the 5-year age difference between was juuuuust enough so that the Connells never hit her radar.

Great profile from yesterday's edition of the show. Probably not a lot of new information for most of us, but still very cool to watch.

Candler Park Music Festival--May 30th in ATL

Truckers headlining with Shovels & Rope, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Southern Culture on the Skids, and more. Free festival, but you have to buy a wristband if you want to drink. Looks like they're selling them in advance this year, too.

Remember that scene in Flash Gordon where he has to reach his arm into the rock, and all but a couple of the holes mean certain death? That's what that lineup reminds me of.
