Re: new tour: nice combo: Justin Townes Earle...

Good to see you're off that "long live rock" Tom Petty soapbox Joelle and come back to reality. This should be excellent and I'd really like to make it out for the Lincoln Hall show. I saw that one of the dates was with the Felice Brothers as well. Too bad I don't live in Florida or wherev...

Re: New Tour Dates Added

They are definitely showing the Midwest some love and I really appreciate that. There are a lot of shows that I would like to see there, but as it stands I'll only probably be hitting up Milwaukee and St. Louis. Where is that fucker Iowan when you need him. He's be praying for an Iowa show again for...

Re: Petty/DBT Cincy 7/15

the band sounded great.... and they seem to be really enjoying these shows. the crowd response wasn't to good at the start. But by the end they were rocking it and the crowd seemed to get into it. my problem was with petty... he wasnt reallly that good. he was k! if dbt hadn't been opening this wou...

Re: Dragon/Stoner?

I've always interpreted the Dragon to be the heroin epedemic in 90's rock music. As in the expression "chasing the dragon."

Not something that I've every been a part of or ever done, but have the unfortunate street smarts to have heard of.

Re: DeKalb, IL 7/11

6 1/2 hrs on the road, and I'm home again! Amazing how a long solo drive like that lets you experience every aspect of the hangover with astonishing clarity Fantastic show. I agree, shorter than I expected, but great to see the rock show in such a small room. The basement thing was a horrible idea....

Re: DeKalb, IL 7/11

What a show. I could not believe my ears to hear the Van Halen cover "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love." Wow. The "18 Wheels of Love" was unexpected as well. Patterson announced that Chester's memorial service had been the day before, and, it was a moving rendition IMO. Cooley was hilar...

Re: DeKalb, IL 7/11

Good to see everyone last night. Wish I could have made the night cap with you guys at Lord Stanley's afterwards. I made it into work and I'm currently hating my life right now. Excellent setlist and they were absolutely on fire last night! Good bitter Patterson rant while kicking out a couple of gu...

Re: DeKalb, IL 7/11

I had seen it quoted at 450 capacity somewhere. Either way, can't wait to tear up Otto's again. Even though its only an hour drive from home I've elected to stay at The Best Western down the street as well. With dog and wife. Another contigent of hardcore DBT fans will be meeting me over there. I ca...

Agreed. The new Dead Weather album may be the single best album that Jack White has played on. And for me that is saying a whole hell of lot. Absolutely masterful.

DBT-July 11th Ottos Dekalb, IL

Looks like they may have added this show very recently. Kick ass small bar/club just off of NIU's campus. I've seen a few great shows at this place including North Mississippi Allstars with Lucero opening up in '02 I believe. They'll really love playing this place in between two of their Tom Petty d...

Re: Most disappointing albums of 2010

I really like the The Big To Do as well. But the topic was disappoiting albums and again I'll have to say it is The Hold Steady's "Heaven is Whenever." I've tried to listen to the hell out of this album, hoping that it would change for the better. And oh yeah it's pretty good...."for ...

Re: R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio

Never grew up in a generation where I could have truly appreciated Dio's talents. I do have friends who have exposed me to his music a bit though. Most importantly I'm fully aware of the influence that he brought for metal frontman. I threw on "Neon Knights" a couple hours ago when I heard...

Re: Uncle Disney covered by Keller Williams

Doesn't do anything to enhance the original, but Patterson should feel honored to have Keller cover one of his tunes. It should breed a bit more exposure to fans that might not typically be exposed to the Truckers. Although a Keller show is a bit played out after you've seen it 5 times, he's an ente...

Re: Favorite Venue to see DBT

The best venue that I have seen DBT play is really small place in Milwaukee called Shank Hall. It had two bartenders in the entire venue, but drinks were still plentiful. It had a really low ceiling and was smokey as shit.

Honorable mention:
The Abbey Pub
40 Watt
Busters
