Re: Patterson late fall tour

Woo hoo! Going to the Vancouver show shortly. Venue is The Fox, a converted porno theatre so maybe Go Go Boots or something tonight.

Re: Vancouver, 10/02/16

Packed house at The Rickshaw, a smaller venue in Canada's poorest postal code. Sound could have been better. Lydia Loveless put on a decent opening set. Seems like DBT played most of the new album. Thanks to NPR for streaming it last week so I had several listens and knew most of the songs. The new ...

Re: Those Five Bonus Tracks: AKA Dragon Pants EP

Not sure if I'm missing something here but seems like you can only get the EP if you pre-order but the pre-order must be CD or vinyl not digital. So for me, living in Canada, the $15 CD comes with shipping of $13, when really I'm just going to put this on my hard drive anyway. Seems really wasteful ...

Re: Patterson Hood & the Downtown Rumblers in Vancouver Sept

Thanks for the setlist, SFC, and good to see you again. Interesting that they played pretty much the whole new album (except Depression Era). Great versions of the songs. The gals from Hope for Agoldensummer were amazing on harmonies and back-up guitars (saw, too, but there was a lot of three guitar...

Re: Patterson Hood 9/17/12 Bowery Ballroom

Thanks for posting. Just got back from the Vancouver show last night. Basically the same set list. I loved the harmonies Hope for agoldensummer provided (their set was also joined by Patterson and Jay at various points) and the feel of an acoustic set in a small venue. The gals also noodled on guita...

Patterson pre-order problem

Grrr. Being a good fan, and lured by the prospect of an early track and bonus material, I bought the pre-order of Patterson's latest on the DBT site. But after payment I could not download the early track because I am using Chrome, and that is 32-bit browser while I need to use a 64-bit browser (so ...

Re: Vancouver show

I was feeling kind of blase about this show before going. No new album, no Browan. But the four-piece sounded great, and I think it was a better show than the last one I saw (one of the last with Browan). It seemed like with Jason alone on guitar he just shone all the more. I've been playing guitar ...

Re: Vancouver show

I'll also chime and say what a great show this was. My wife and I were right up front between Patterson and Cooley, got solos from a couple feet away all night. I love watching Cooley play guitar, I learn a lot. Patterson handed one of his picks to my wife at the end of the show, and she was thrille...

Thanks so much from Vancouver. I caught the second half of the second show on stream, but so nice to have both shows. LOVE the acoustic stuff.

Re: browan lollar

Sorry to hear he will be gone. I loved his acoustic sets with Jason. Super nice guy. I saw the whole band in June so that must have been one of his last shows with the 400 Unit. He came out after the show and talked, and he took a poem from my daughter back to Jason and the band, then was the first ...

Re: Isbell & the 400 unit w/ JTE in Vancouver

Dang. Sorry to have missed it, cuz the Rio is literally right around the corner from my house. I did see Jason in June and Justin in July, but to see the double bill would have been sweet. Had a good excuse, though. I was in North Carolina and that night got to see a phenomenal show by the Avett Bro...

Jason on KEXP 6-14-2011

This short set is worth picking up. I listened live and thank the kind person who recorded it and posted. Also the day after the Vancouver show I saw, in the great KEXP studios (since no more "live" recordings are allowed): m Source - KEXP's 1411 kbps lossless uncompressed webstream > Tota...

Re: Vancouver show

Thanks, SFC, for the setlist. I believe it is "Hey Pokey Way" and it was often played by the Dead. Great energy in this show, though it is too bad more people could not have come out. Especially since DBT sold out a much bigger venue just a few months ago. Much schooling of the Vancouver p...

Re: Shepherds Bush, London Setlist - 5th May 2011

Great show. I was pretty thrilled when the London show was announced cuz I was going to be there. Nice venue and good crowd. Opening band Dan Michaelson and the Coast Guard sucked I'm afraid to say. About as mellow as you can get with three guitars, too much treble, any distortion at all would have ...

Re: Digital files of the 7" bonus record?

Got Everywhere with Helicopter. Great song.

Still why make it so hard to get other bonus tracks? I feel the same about whisper and Crystal Clear neither of which I have. I will pay for them so why would the band miss out on the revenue?

Re: Vancouver show

A few more post-show reflections: Sweetest Carl Perkins I ever heard ... perhaps related to the joint I had just smoked, but seriously fantastic version. Killer electric version of Pulaski. I've had the 2001 acoustic version for a long time, and appreciated an acoustic band version on GGB. Fully ele...

Re: Vancouver show

Thanks for the setlist, SFC. It was a great show (I was right up first row in front of Cooley, so how could it not be?). Pretty much among the best couple of hours one can spend on this planet. Sold out show in a much bigger venue (the Commodore, Vancouver's best live venue) than last time (the wee ...

Re: DBT on Squidbillies this weekend

I had to watch the show a second time with the family gone and the speakers turned way up. I think the lead of For This Land is very close to Let There Be Rock. The chorus is very similar, too, but feels just a bit different. And the For Three Grand Coda -- totally priceless. The Truckers come out o...

I think it is a great line. In terms of the usage, it should be in quotes. I liken it to "Call me up when you need a place to stay in Birmingham".

Re: Show your guitar!

In a thread on the old board I got a lot of great advice on buying an electric, and I'm proud to say that yesterday I pulled the trigger and got one off Craigslist. It's an ESP-LTD EC400VF in classic Les Paul style with Seymour Duncan pickups (JB in the bridge and '59 in the neck). It plays like a d...

Re: Patterson songs on next DBT album?

I love Used to be a Cop. The electric version from 1/14/2010 is phenomenal, and if that is indicative of the R&B flavour that has been talked about for Go-Go Boots, the album will be great.
