Re: Hipster hates Isbell, and everything
you're right...he's a legitmate d-bag. I went and read some of his other stuff. It was so stupid, and with the date it came out...I assumed it was satire.

After the Philly show, I told my buddies how much Jay improves every single time I see the band. He fits like a damn glove right now Definitely. Last time I saw them electric, was the same situation. A couple months after Neff bailed and left them hanging. (I really need to get to a show, last one ...

Of all these awesome, intense, meaningful songs, how come it is that "Filthy and Fried" is the one that's hitting me the hardest? And why is "Ever South" #2? I'm not southern! THIS ALBUM IS TOO MUCH GUYS. Yes and how about EZB with those BIG drums in F&F?!? They sound like Max Weinberg/Born in the ...

I think it's about Donald Trump being an asshole, just kidding... I picture and old man sitting, drinking a coffee, smoking a cigarette, taking in the sights of the busy world around him, and realizing that it's a different world now. Women have to work just as hard as men, and aren't necessarily "l...

Re: Chris Stapleton
I had hoped to go see him in July in Omaha, but it sold out in minutes. Guessing a non-secure website and being a hot ticket that scalpers probably got most of them... I'd agree with what's been said so far...several good songs on the album, great singer (but I think he sometimes over-does it). The ...

I'm one of the people that he had mentioned were going to be mad when the new album came out....I don't dig all the horns and orchestration. I'd rather it have just been Sturgill and his old 3 pc backing band...but to each his own. I appreciate the album, and think it's some good songwriting, but it...

Re: DVDoftheW - Live at the 40 Watt
Harmony is an art form not easily mastered. Just because you can sing doesn't mean you can harmonize. Makes me respect those who make it seem so effortless (CSNY, Simon & Garfunkel, Avett Brothers, etc. ) There are all sorts of different kinds of harmony singing. Keith Richards' harmonies with the ...

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015
The arrangement is nearly perfect. Also, I love having the live version of "box of spiders". Much superior to the original version the way they play it now. Wish "bulldozers and dirt" and "one of these days" were on here too as I think the current live versions of those outdo the early days recorded...

I'm a picky bastard, but Jay's keys and even sometimes his guitar is buried in some of these songs. Also, the horns are buried in the mix too on the few songs with the horn section. If you're gonna do songs with horns at least have them up front with the mix.

Yep. That is what this band is supposed to sound like. Raw, emotional and loud. Even with Cooley entering with the wrong chord. Love it.
