Re: Books Thread

On February 18, 1965 an overflow crowd packed the Cambridge Union in Cambridge, England to witness James Baldwin and William F. Buckley Jr. debate the topic, "the American dream is at the expense of the American Negro." The two men were less than a year apart in age, but lived in vastly different pa...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Yes you did, though I think it was something along the lines of, "maybe you don't want to eat the entire thing at once." Should have been more like, "first, just try sniffing it. You might not need more than that." They did pair nicely with tequila.

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

BTB, nice to be back with the cool kids. And thank you very much. I have been tormented by that song in my head all day now. Clams, cookies provided to me on the first night of HC caused me to be nearly unconscious by the time the band played Buttholeville, one of my favorites. You'll be glad to kno...

Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

Last night Brian Fallon and Patterson Hood chatted and played some music. It's on youtube. Hopefully, this link works. If not, you can easily find it thru google.

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

I am not exactly a newbie, but I feel like one because I never really settled down here. Showed up and then migrated to Facebook. And now I am done with FB and have returned to where the pure of heart live. So, hey everyone! I have only been aware of DBT for a comparably short period of time--maybe ...

Re: 2020 Nuci's/Homecoming fundraiser and DVD/Blu-Ray offer

I am not even sure where to start. Compared to many of you, I am brand new to this party. It's only been a few years that DBT (and as result, Linda Phillips and Nuci's Space) has been in my life, but now I cannot imagine this group of people and music not in my life. This past HC was our first. I me...

Re: We need to up our game

Hey guys—maybe if the FB folks knew they could get unique information on 3DD, some of them would spend time here
e.g., Patterson’s write up that was posted today or yesterday. One of you regulars on both platforms (and I know you are out there) should tell the FB DBT people what they are missing.

DBT/Nuci's Space Fundraiser

Hey everyone. So it's been awhile since I have been here, and this seems like the BEST reason to jump back in. As so many of you likely know, Nuci's Space was founded by Linda Phillips about 20 years ago, after her son Nuci committed suicide. Linda's book, A Beautiful Here, describes Linda's life be...

Re: HOMECOMING 2017

THANK YOU to DBT, jonicont and anyone else responsible for streaming those three nights. By the time I realized I really really really wanted to go to homecoming 2017 it was too late. But listening to the shows live was pretty damn amazing. And I know having the responsibility of that task impacted ...

Re: DBT Albums - Week 3 - Alabama Ass Whuppin'

I got AAW in the mail a few weeks ago--along with Go Go Boots and The Big To-Do. The sudden abundance of material was a bit overwhelming. But AAW explained a few things for me. I know PH has talked about the band having something of a punk identity early on and I never really understood that, even a...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Hey - I am a long time fan that has always been reluctant to chime in. Just didn't feel worthy, I guess. I recently reflected on my decade long fascination with DBT and submit the following highlights and lowlights as an informal introduction: 1. I have seen DBT in multiple states and venues. Favor...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Welcome blueridgehiker! I am brand new too and fell hard about 14 months ago, actually. I signed on here after trying to get about every single person in my life to appreciate DBT, only to be mildly tolerated. So this forum is an absolute joy. I have two kids--8 and 13--and so my husband and I decid...

What a great venue/crowd to see my first PH solo show. Probably didn't need that last tequila shot though.

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

We are in the East Bay. I will be at the Sweetwater Sunday with my deadhead, DBT loving, TDD lurking husband. Find me and say hello. I'll be the grey beard in a yellow Lee Bains III shirt. Will do! I have long darkish hair and will be with aforementioned hubby and another couple. Probably will be w...

Re: RIP Leonard Cohen

It's been done enough, for sure. But not like this--I can imagine layer upon layer of guitar until there is a wall of sound and Cooley singing in the same tone as when he sings "son come running, you better come quick..." Well, it sounds pretty darn good in my head.

Thanks RolanK! I think you are so right, and I have (happily) infected my kids too. I love driving with them while we al...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Hi Everyone! I have been lurking for awhile--kind of getting my DBT fan fix here. My husband became a big fan a few years ago (he saw two of the Fillmore shows in 2014 when they were recording, and now I kick myself for not going--such a fool!). I didn't become obsessed until last fall. I think it s...
