Re: The New OK - 10/2/2020 (Vinyl 12/18)

For me, the best DBT albums benefit from the mix of voices and songwriting styles. There must be a reason Jay hasn't contributed a song or a lead vocal. Saving his material it for his own releases?

Trump personal attorney Rudy Giuliani argued on Tuesday that the American public deserved to see reports based off material from Hunter Biden’s laptop “even if it isn’t accurate.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/giuliani-says-even-if-hunter-laptop-story-isnt-accurate-americans-are-entitled-to-know-it...

Yes, the ending is intense. But also, SPOILER ALERT, imo the "right way" to end the story. There was just no way there could be a happy ending. It was never "ment to be".
May not be the ending. They want to do another one.

But you're right. If it's the ending, its a good one and fits perfectly.

Re: The New OK - 10/2/2020 (Vinyl 12/18)

I suspect PH has spent a lot more time than we appreciate picking songs and sequencing them for this release. At least as to sequencing, Patterson has a well deserved reputation for the time, care and thought he puts into sequencing. If I try to take a stab at the feel of this album, it's warm nigh...

KKK works when you’re 12 beers deep at the rock show (and it actually works alright here) but other than that...gonna be a yikes from me. I do enjoy the music on that tune.
That's unfair. I'm really into that after 8 beers.

Re: The New OK - 10/2/2020 (Vinyl 12/18)

First reactions and thoughts: Go Go Boots is considered the band's "country/soul" album and The Unraveling is the Memphis album, but this album is truly the band's Memphis soul album. Memphis just drips and oozes through the grooves and out the speakers. It makes me think that they should remake GG...

Re: The New OK - 10/2/2020 (Vinyl 12/18)

First listen, I enjoy The Distance. This mix of Perilous Night sounds much better to me (I was never too keen on the original release). I really appreciate having a studio version of KKK. It all hangs together much better than expected. Of course it was going to be another Fine Print (The Finer Prin...

I actually sympathise with the guy that had to moderate. Trump's a sociopath, he's going to do whatever he wants. The only way to stop him doing what he did a second time is to give the moderator the ability to turn his mic off. That or give him a cattle prod.

The Bureau is a French spy series that I hadn't heard of and kind of stumbled into. The first season was very good - very intense and totally absorbing. We didn't quite binge it (too intense for more than a couple of episodes at a time) but on the other hand we finished all 10 episodes in just over...

Re: Unreleased songs from The Unraveling sessions

My assumption was that the darker material mostly went onto The Unraveling and they were hoping to be able to come up with some more tunes to add to a more positive follow up. Think thats pretty much what Go Go Boots was? They had most of it during the Big To Do sessions then were able to add a few ...

Well, at the very least I would presume that they cut Welcome 2 Club XIII. Some Patterson songs that I would guess MAYBE got cut (Gonna Come Get Me, Scott's Sister, Last Hope) There are also some random songs that got played live over the past few years that haven't shown up on an album, but I woul...

Re: Last Movie Watched

The Amazon original movie, My Spy raises a very fundamental question about movie viewing and movie making. Why is it that some formulaic, by the numbers, predictable, hackneyed stories are just boring and bad while others can be delightful despite all those negatives? I enjoyed My Spy, but I have t...

Anyway, I thought that was a great piece.

I read it as artistic conflict, not political. Its a very different band to the band of 25 years ago.

And, he says he isn't changing the name anyway.
