Re: Guided by Voices/Robert Pollard

HI. Long time reader; rarely post. For this thread, I want to say "thank you." I like GBV/Pollard a lot, but not exhaustively. Over some time, I loaded, basically, all of the "10" and "11" rated songs into one big (209 track) TIDAL playlist. It's really fun to listen to; some of the nonGBV stuff is ...

Re: Welcome to Club XIII

I've been streaming the album all day at work. sounds great.
Three things I love about "the driver"
-- the guitar tone (or whatever you call that) at the very start
-- the line about only knowing one side of a story
-- the two separate, strong references to the Replacements
Great.

Re: Ladies & gentlemen...the Rolling Stones!

Great article; thanks for connecting it. Exile is the best. My Exile story: I grew up in a small town in northern Wisconsin. I was only aware of Exile b/c in 8th grade I became fascinated with Rolling Stone magazine and Exile was #3 on their list of the 100 best albums 67-87. One fateful day, probab...

Pioneertown show notes 2/12

Yesterday, my brother and I made the drive from north county San Diego up to the Pappy&Harriet's venue, which is near Pioneerstown, CA (which itself is a small town right near Joshua Tree National Park). The show was outdoors under the high desert sky. SoCA is having a heatwave; we saw 90 degrees on...

49 Winchester -- III [I haven't figured out how to paste the album cover; it has a beard dude with buck horns...it's funny]
I haven't heard albums 1 or 2, but this one has been playing all weekend.

Re: Louisiana 1927

Good old boys and that run of his records (12 songs, sail away)... excellent. I used to have a tape with those 3 albums on it and I would listen to it driving north out of Chicago toward the home country... like great DBT songs, his songs have a lot of thoughts and ideas in them that I find great fo...

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Hey all: I miss seeing new posts on this thread. Maybe up-coming "live streams" can be listed here... it's hard to keep track of them. Last night... LUCERO did one, as a band. They were all on the Minglewood Stage. FYI, all band members but Ben had masks on. There were multiple cameras; lighting, gr...

Re: Bob Dylan's Top 50 Songs

Always good to see a Bob list. I'd like if it had "pressing on" on it; good song for these times. Can't argue with #1. The band Titus Andronicus did a cover of LARS a few years ago. They sing it in first person and it makes me hear/think of the song a whole different way. It only enhances the greatn...

Re: DBT Merchandise Ideas

To chime in on this... I like the idea of a coffee cup. I have a Lucero one that says "mornings like these" (based, of course, off "night's like these"); it's great, though it is peeling some. For DBT, I could picture a Cooley Bird on one side and the quote "It's what alive feels like" (from Filthy/...

DBT in the news

I'm a digital subscriber to the wall street journal. Today there is an article called "Hip-Hop Is Huge, but on the Concert Circuit, Rock Is King" I opened it... WTF??... big picture of the Truckers. And they are somewhat featured in the article including P. Hood quotes. The article notes "Drive-By T...

Re: Chicago - 9/22

I suffered the same fate; my group got there around 6 and stood in line and never got in. Boo... it was perfect night for an outdoor show. Backing up, I used to live in Chicago but am in CA now. I'd flown in to hang out with old friends and the show was part of our plan. So, double boo. But... we ha...

Homecoming Thursday show travel help

Hello 3DD. Long time fan, I live in San Diego area. I am trying to work the Thursday night "Homecoming" show into a work trip I have in February. I am flying back to US from Europe on Thursday, the 15th. I am scoping a flight that would schedule me into Atlanta at about 4PM. Does anyone see any unsu...

Heathens! I saw them at Cane's in Mission Beach, San Diego around 2006ish (with Son Volt). I recall... I'd never really picked up on "Heathens" but that night they opened with it and it was just perfect. I also remember that night Patterson talked about his kids prior to LTBR. My son was about 1 yea...
