The Magpie Salute

Just got home from seeing the first show for these guys. Rich Robinson, Marc Ford, Sven Pipien of The Black Crowes along with a few others playing lots of Crowes tunes, a few covers, and a few from Marc and Rich's solo catalog. It was outstanding. If you dig the Crowes or just good RnR, get out and ...

Any idea if there were any tapers there? I'm hoping so.

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back

Try, Down in a Hole, Hurricanes and Hand Grenades, Cigarettes and Wine. I loved the first album from day 1 and hate that Dress Blues is the only song he still plays from it. Of course, Dress Blues is a classic.

Re: The Worst Band of All Time?

Hearing a Linkin Park song makes me wish whatever radio it was coming from would become a living, breathing thing, just so I could strangle it and watch life leave its purple turning face.

Re: Never Had Such A Good Time/The Grateful Dead Thread

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere on this site before, but there is an outstanding app for iPhones called Relisten. Used to be the Grateful Dead app but now includes several other bands including DBT. 800 DBT show recordings on there, 10,000 + GD recordings. Has them organized by year, tells...

So did I, good start. Doug is the man.

Anybody watching Vinyl on HBO? I'm loving it so far.

Re: Salisbury, MD 3/3/16

This show was really really really good. Only thing keeping it from being like a Top 5 show was a rather average encore - but the first 15 songs or so of the main set was about as solid a run as you'll find anywhere. Also the first "My Sweet Annette" I've caught in since 2011. Drive to DC afterward...

Re: Salisbury, MD 3/3/16

I agree. Grand Canyon is a wonderful, wonderful song...but it's getting a little predictable now. I have yet to see Angels and Fuselage live. I'm hoping for this Saturday at the 9:30. I hear ya. I've seen a good many shows and somehow Angels and Fuselage escaped me u till homecoming this year. Ever...

I can even deal with Hell No closing every set, as I love that song and the crowd always eats it up. Just mix up the encore!

Re: Salisbury, MD 3/3/16

Great show, drive back to Philly sucked. Snow blind for half the drive. I can't remember every song, but I know they played: Putting People On the Moon (opener), 3DD, Shit Shots Count, Ronnie and Neil, 72, Guns of Umpqua, Surrender Under Protest, First Air of Autumn, Women Without Whiskey, My Sweet ...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

I finally saw them open for the Black Crowes and Robert Randolph in 2006 in Philly on a very hot late afternoon and have been absolutely hooked ever since. That was my first DBT show as well. Brutally hot, but totally worth it. I was thrilled to see DBT with the Crowes, as they were my favorite ban...

I was listening on headphones and thought it was them. Watching it again now on my tv, sounds better now. I only caught the first set last night, about to start the second set.

Hmmmm, not thrilled about that. Love the album, but I would like some variety. If it was Sirens he was doing, that would be different. He never touches most of those songs anymore, though I wish he would.

Re: Isbell and Hood in Portland

Did you happen to see any tapers there? Doesnt seem like many of his shows are popping up online so far this tour. I've been trying to hunt down the Philly show I was at a couple weeks ago. Most rocking Isbell show I have ever seen, lot more guitar work and much louder than past few years.

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Been coming here for DBT info for years, finally signed up. Started listening to them in '04 thanks to the recommendation from someone on the old Chris Robinson and the New Earth Mud message board.
