Re: Brooklyn Bowl June 20th! YESSIRRRRRRR

Yes, as everybody has said, 'twas a rockin' show at the bowling alley. And while a hit-the-bottle rock out has got to be fun, I say it paled next to the performance they gave at the Wellmont. I couldn't help but feel that given the impromptu nature of the gig, the band was playing to please itself ...

Re: dbt tracks # 53 - Decoration Day

Here’s how I see it It's Decoration Day. And I've a mind to roll a stone on his grave. But what would he say. "Keeping me down, boy, won't keep me away." Decoration Day is a day to honor your dead ancestors, separate from Memorial Day. The father is dead. The son dislikes his father, want...

This is him doing Ruby and Carlos live. He starts out saying "this'll get you reaching for the Prozac"
I've been a fan for over 20 years and I think Ruby and Carlos is my favorite

Re: **10/06/10 Columbus, OH**

Sound issues aside, The Newport is still my all-time favorite venue. I've seen exponentially more shows there than anyplace else. It really takes a full house (about 1700 people) to dampen the cavernous sound of the place. It's too big for DBT, but I'd still rather see them there than Skully's or R...

Re: DBT came to Spain

I'm not sure that was the best set list for a Spanish show. Um..What would you have played for almost 3 hours? Julio Iglesias songs? Maybe you and Zip City should start consulting for the band so they quit wasting all these wonderful opportunities. Pretty sure that was satire. (hoping it was at lea...

Re: UPDATE - DBT @ Beachland TONIGHT (7/20)

Old 97's are not opening, it is a separate show. They are playing in the ballroom, DBT is playing in the front lounge. The last time they played that room was 2002, Cooley broke the stage trying to smash his guitar.

Re: After the scene dies - lyrics question

I think the declaration that these guys don't write "weak" lyrics is a bit like blind hero worship. Of course they've written some weak lyrics. But at the same time, whether or not a lyric is weak is in the ear and mind of the listener. Yes, opinions are like assholes, we all have them. A...

in the 00's, their type of music doesn't get radio play, and isn't a priority of record labels

I think Zip got it right, right here. Hopefully ATO will be different
Zip City wrote 2 - Though they tour a lot, they are stubbornly regional
Hey Zip, How do you see DBT as regional? I'm basing that on their touring tendencies, which stubbornly favor the southeastern part of the country. I know that's where they live and that they don't like touring f...

Thanks. Sorry for the abrupt entry onto the board. I'm a bit of a fanatic.
Of Course you can interpret lyrics anyway you like. That's one of the best things about songs.
What are some other examples of what you consider weak lyrics?

Re: After the scene dies - lyrics question

I interpreted it a little bit different, don't know if it is right or wrong. The singer is the last one to leave. So as everyone else is packing up he's still got an order into the kitchen for a plate of fries. He's the last customer on the last day and if they are locking up and closing down for g...
