Re: artist of the week 11.1.10 cary hudson/blue mountain

I just heard my first Blue Mountain song and I have to admit I'm a little gobsmacked. Which was it? A buddy sent me a link to Soul Sister (the second recording from Omnibus) which lead me to Allmusic.com to read up on them. My plan is to purchase Dog Days and get caught up as soon as possible. I ju...

Matt Patton is your bartender this morning

Big fundraiser this morning for the Oxford/Lafayette County Human Society with guest bartender Matt Patton slinging drinks, starting at 9:30am!

I'm going to have a bloody mary and play this on the jukebox:

Cool. i noticed the old Oxford Town boxes are back out- would be really cool if there were Oxford Towns in them. That program does have a nice cover, thanks to the festival poster. Is your story about Matt in there?

Grace Potter and band in the Grove on campus tonight at Ole Miss and, afterwards, a few blocks a way on the town square, George Porter Jr. (Meters) and his band at Proud Larrys.

Can't remember the last time I went to two shows in one night and the artists had the same initials.

Re: Double Decker Festival Oxford MS 4/27

This will be the Trucker's first time playing DD. I talked with Patterson last year and he said in the 30 years of him coming to Oxford it was the first time he had ever taken part in the festival. I also looked back through the lineups from 1996 til now and they were never listed. Super excited to...

Re: Double Decker Festival Oxford MS 4/27

And it's all free- Blue Mountain the night before, Shannon McNally, and so on. There will also be a 'rebel' stage or two put up by local bands not invited to play the festival. One of my favorite Truckers memories is 2002 or so, when they played both nights of this weekend at Proud Larrys and enjoye...

I'll be staying in Oxford for Double Decker rather than going to JazzFest.

I'll probably go Sunday. This sure does suck.

Re: Get down on your knees before the GREEN BAY PACKERS!

23 years ago today was a great day for America:
Don Majkowski's 41 seconds left, 4th down, 4th quarter touchdown pass to Sterling Sharpe, originally penalized for the quarterback being over the line of scrimmage, is reviewed and reversed, giving the Green Bay Packers a 14-13 win over the Bears.

I was at a Grateful Dead show in Los Angeles in 1990 when one of my favorite Deadheads showed up: Bill Walton. The last time the New York Yankees were swept 4-0 in the play-offs, Alabama was defending national champions and ranked #1, just as they are this year.
