If you like art, there's a ton of street art - like 500+ murals all over the city. https://streetartmap.org/atlanta-street ... mural-map/

Re: Fox Theatre, Atlanta 9/13

Yep, I scored some great seats this morning. The other band on the bill is a pretty solid group of players too.
Dodd and the Councilmen are:

Dodd Farrelle
Bill Berry (REM)
David Barbe
John Keane
Adam Poulin

Lots of rumors about who else will be playing.

Saturday is gonna be a blast. Roadkill Ghost Choir is outstanding. I can hear the music from my front porch, so I'll probably walk over for at least parts of both days.

I can walk from my front porch right to the stage. Couldn't be much happier about this one.

Re: Atlanta at The Tabernacle 10/10

Hey EZ Dan - did you happen to get the St Paul+Broken Bones set too?

FWIW - I was dead-center on the floor and it sounded good to me. Bands do have a tendency to go too loud at the Tabernacle. The first DBT song was not quite dialed in, but I think they found the sound before too long.

I'm ticketed for this one. Really excited to see St. Paul & Broken Bones. I'm almost more excited for the opening set then I am for the rock show.

Re: Shit Shots Count opening riff

I never said it was plagiarism. If it's deliberate then I think it's a great nod. If not deliberate, then it's a cool coincidence. Just trying to say it sure sounds like the same riff to me; the way that Marry Me sounds like an Eagles' song.

Shit Shots Count opening riff

Is a direct lift from the Sex Pistols' "Holidays in the Sun". Nice nod on the record that was supposed to be the "punk rock" album.

I set up a rule in my mail client to put all the dbtnews messages in their own inbox. I'm on a mac using Mac Mail, so I created a "New Smart Mailbox", but folks with Outlook, Entourage or something similar should be able to do the same with rules.

Re: Songs you miss in the set....

I've noticed as tours get deeper, the Cooley selections seem to get fewer and the variation in the setlists more or less is in the PH songs. I feel pretty lucky in that I've seen damn near everything most of y'all are pining for (with a few Exceptions). The Little Bonnie the Downtown Rumblers played...

Re: Track of the Week - The Night G.G. Allin Came to Town

GG Allin was a talentless dipshit and I don't understand how anyone could have worshipped that crap. Although I can see where you're coming from, I don't think of G.G. Allin as a musician nearly as much as a performance artist. He didn't play to showcase his music, but rather to engage or confront ...

Whoa. For a second I thought you had just double-posted Thursday's setlist. Thursday was my first time ever in The Melting Point and I have to say the sound in that room was great. Perfect mix, nobody was turned up too loud. The vocals were prominent, but not overpowering. I had trouble picking out ...

I REALLY hope the band never plays this song at any show i'm at. I would love to hear it live. It really is one of my favorites. But it would have to be the right venue with the right audience. I'm pretty sure they know drunk idiots who didn't recognize the tune immediately would probably just talk...

He did a verse of Bob Seger's "Rock-n-Roll Never Forgets", which is referenced in 3DD.
