Re: Last Movie Watched

How far down the rabbit hole of weird cinema do you want to go? I'll see your Audition and raise you a Visitor Q. Thanks to both of y'all for the summer watch ideas. I googled Audition and saw that it's very highly regarded and that it's best you go in without knowing anything about it, so I stoppe...

Re: Last Movie Watched

How far down the rabbit hole of weird cinema do you want to go? I'm hit or miss on weird cinema. I do like movies that are off the beaten path of recycled plot lines/character types. I generally favor plots that are at least somewhat followable. I'm not easily offended. I've liked a little of David...

Re: Last Movie Watched

I don't know if this movie will have any appeal to non-perverts; while the jokes are universal enough the context is very...specific. Flea's quote above reminded me a bit of The Greasy Strangler. I did a search on the forum for discussion of it and didn't find anything. I was home sick for a few da...

Have we done this one?

This was one of my favorite Priest songs growing up. I was too young to know the original, and it surprised the hell of me when I later heard the Baez version.

Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

Just checked, and it's still up for me. Thanks, Mundane. Life got in the way and I didn't get around to checking it out, so I guess I'll catch the next one. Last night and tonight have been my first opportunity to listen to the July 3rd Bandcamp downloads. I'm about halfway through "night 2" now. T...

Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

Here is audio of Patterson doing a very moving version of What it Means and Marvin Gaye's What's Going On Thanks for posting that, gordonlw. It's every bit as good as I remembered. And it underscores how great it would be to eventually have opportunity to purchase a greatest hits type download of T...

Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

I was out of town and missed Cooley's show (first quarantine show I've missed). I figure I'm now outside the window to buy a ticket and watch it late (if it's still up, please let me know and I'll take the gamble). What were the highlights of this one?

So, uh, Patterson covered "The Day John Henry Died" last night.
And that song is followed by "Boys from Alabama."

TC’s in the hospital and doing well. His implanted LVAC has charged his heart multiple times over the past couple of days. OT1H it’s working as it’s supposed to but OTOH when it’s working that hard it’s time for a closer look. Thanks, BTB. Sending out good vibes to TC and Lurleen. If there is any n...

Schlanky are you sure about the 3+ hours? It was definitely headed there before the abrupt ending but I thought it was actually just under 2.5 hours (?) The feed cut out mid-song in James Taylor's Going to Carolina. It was out for a few minutes, then came back. It was sometime after 11 central (may...

Jay did another fantastic show. Many fewer instruments this time around, but he played more than three hours. His streaming show needs to be called the Jay Gonzalez Jukebox. His request list has 900+ songs on it. It's fun to watch. On a later show, I'd like to see a camera roam around the room becau...

On Patterson's Pizza Deliverance show, the stories were every bit as enjoyable as the songs---as TC said above, you can tell Hood really puts a lot of thought into these themed shows. Re: DBT Quarantine Livestreams

We all know Cooley is one of the best songwriters on the planet, and he played a hell of setlist and did fantastic versions of all the songs. But what I'll remember from this show, the stuff that hit me hardest, was his talking before Ramon Casiano and right there at the end.

I'm loving it so far. Just started second listen. I hear a little of After the Gold Rush and a lot of Harvest (but these are just a little later at night than the songs on Harvest). The opening of Jay's streaming show made me want to hear some Badfinger. Haven't pulled this one out in a long time. I have No Dice on the Apple label, but this one is my go-to album for Badfinger.
