Deer Tick has been on my radar for a while but never really found the time to do a deep dive until recently. Good stuff. Emotional Contract from this year is great.
Black Dirt Sessions is my fav

I'm liking the new songs. Where to start with his back catalogue, can anyone recommend a few of his old albums to pick up?

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?

had it been pared down to a single LP, it would make a run for one of their greatest records. Not disagreeing, but curious what you'd jettison for a single LP. Assuming six a side, it's at least a double (or do I recall us already having this conceptual wrasslin' match?). not gonna bother with sequ...

Punk was the music I grew up with and related to most as a teenager in late 70s England. Although anything to shock the parents would've done. I saw every half decent punk band except the Pistols all in small sweaty clubs. I was never a punk myself, just a scruffy kid with a leather jacket and a lov...

A couple of albums not yet mentioned
Billy Bragg & Joe Henry - Shine a Light
Deer Tick - Black Dirt Sessions

There's been many very good albums, not so many truly great ones.
Certainly fewer than the previous decade and nothing as exciting as Arcade Fire's and Arctic Monkey's debuts.

Mona Lisa's Sister and Deepcut to Nowhere would be my recommendations if you're not familar with his post-Rumour output, which has been pretty sketchy, although every album has at least a couple of great songs. He's also got a good official bootleg series worth checking out.

It's also worth pointing out just how prolific the Clash were. In 5 short years they released 3 single albums, a double album, a treble album plus half a dozen or so singles and B sides that weren't included on albums. The "only band that mattered" moniker stemmed from they actually cared ...
