Re: 5 DBT Songs that would make great movies
Bobby went out for a joy ride with my best girl Left me at the party, He was my best friend and I miss him. It was almost June and the ¾ moon illuminated the rain-soaked streets like a candy wrapper. I guess that's why Bobby had his lights off, Tear-assing threw the back part of town and those deser...

My boy and I have been listening to this on the way to his football games. It's a feel good song, love the Mr. Big Stuff sample. A bit cheesy but it gets a 7yo happy in the early am and that's all good.

Gimme Shelter. It's proof positive of what scared the shit out of people about rock and roll. Impending doom.

The Late Great Townes Van Zandt
Great article in a great series from the AV Club: A.V. Club head writer and hip-hop specialist Nathan Rabin recently decided to spend a year or two immersing himself in the canon of country music, a genre he knew little about, but was keen to explore. The result: “Nashville Or Bust,” a series of ess...

punk band who made a pop record. just my opinion. Definitely punk in that they were not afraid to slop up the pop. not pop punk (whatever that is) but pop like Big Star only more distorted. Nirvana is to Big Star what the Ramones were to Phil Specter. And yeah, thats about as punk as it gets. I agr...

Me likey! Thanks.
Noisy duos are good stuff. Been enjoying Sleigh Bells too, less blues, more beats, less musical, but rediculously loud.

Re: Music Blasphemy
downloading music is blasphemy to me, If I can't hold it, look at it and have it in my physical collection then I don't want it. I'll make exceptions for OOP albums and live shows but if the CD is still out there then thats what I want, I want the art work, any "limited edition" specials ...

Re: Richmond VA Oct 29-30
How difficult (or easy) would it be to stay in DC fri & sat nites for these Richmond shows? There are hotels a block or so away from the venue. Unless you have compelling reasons for the four hour (roundtrip) drive like Mama guilting you into a visit, I wouldn't subject myself to that. Then aga...

Orange Blossoms is my favorite, not taking anything away from the others. Couldn't get past Lochaloosa for the longest time as IMO Country Ghetto was a grower. Re: Music Blasphemy
There is no better songwriter than James McMurtry. McMurtry is the shit. Ruby & Carlos, Choctaw Bingo and Levelland (just to name a few) are among the best songs, wood for word, ever written. Upper, upper echelon. You state there is no better, and that's true. He's in the Dylan, Lennon, Cooley,...

Re: DBT in Rock History
For all intents and purposes DBT is roaming the halls of fame. Recording With Bettye Lavette and Booker T. Selling out halls. Making their own music on their own terms. They were invited to the Midnight Ramble. So far as I'm concerned they were enshrined in that barn. You dont get invited to play wi...

Emusic has all the early albums and is where I loaded up on the teens per pattersons noted recommendation. I love these guys. Take Me to the Speedway is a top ten all time song. As a resident of the coastal South (okay mid atlantic but below the mason dixon) this is my favorite lyric. "Take me ...
