Cooley/Birmingham 10/12 - two free tickets

It is what it is - I got to watch Bama play football instead of going to see Cooley tomorrow night. I got 2 tickets, free of charge, if anyone is interested. It is a charity fundraiser, if anyone takes the offer it'd be nice to make a donation anyway but that's between you and Mike and Camp McDowell...

Cooley's doing another solo show in Bham

I don't think I've seen posted here, and not on the DBT website either.

Fundraiser for Camp McDowell at Good People Brewery, Oct 12.

Re: AoTW - 9/2/13 - Allman Brothers Band

Here's a fantastic fan video - cartoon style - covering the whole history of the Allman Brothers. Dude said he spent about a year working on it, on and off. Every scene has some kind of Allman-centric meaning or significance.

Re: New Govt. Mule

Agree on the small consensus here that Shout is a stellar recording on first few listens. Bring on the Music especially is just a wonderful song, as is the track (with and without Dr John) Stoop So Low. As for Mule in general, they've been around for almost 20 years now, and Warren Haynes had been i...

Re: Isbell's NY Times article

Bob Lefsetz made a couple of comments about Isbell and the Spotify issue in his "Lefsetz Letter," item #5. http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php/archives/2013/06/03/the-way-john-fogerty-should-have-done-it/ My familiarity w Spotify is zero. Lefsetz is an interesting character, VERY opinio...

Re: Drive-By Truckers to play at Birmingham's Iron City - Au

Iron City is the nicest music hall/club I've ever been to. Pretty large main room, probably 1,000 person capacity. Sunken floor, then main level with large horseshoe shaped bar inside the room (as opposed to Workplay, which has a small cramped bar outside the theater) and balcony level, again, simil...

Re: Patterson Hood 1/12/13 Alys Stephens Center

There were certainly some pro photographers snapping pix. Don't know about recordings. New venue? Close to the Stephens Center? There is some construction going on directly across the street but I don't know what it is. UAB has multiple construction projects going on all the time, it's hard to keep ...

Patterson Hood 1/12/13 Alys Stephens Center

Had a great time last night. PH opened w 12:01, and added a couple of DBT songs w his solo stuff throughout the first set. He introduced the band fairly early, and added "Mystery Man X" I think, who had a spot set up to Hood's right. And eventually Cooley comes out and plays a couple of so...

Re: Cooley Solo in Birmingham 12/20

Glad y'all had a big time. I too enjoyed watching you and your pal, in a very good natured kind of way. Always does my soul good to see people having what appears to be the time of their lives. JM I fell in love with truckers by loading up and driving around on backcountry roads or just on road trip...

Re: Cooley Solo in Birmingham 12/20

I was at this show too but didn't get nearly the disrespectful vibe that you did. I imagine that's the luck of the draw as to where exactly I was sitting, to a large extent. The most persistent interruption I was aware of came from waitresses dumping empty beer bottles in the trash cans..... I did g...

Re: Newbies--Introduce yourselves

Hello friends - While not new to the DBT, it's only been over the last 6 months that I've really come to appreciate and develop a bit of a fascination/fixation on the band. I have the vaguest recollection of seeing the DBT back at the Nick here in Bham in the late 90's/early 00's a few times. I woul...
