Re: DBT Tracks - Week # 6 - One of These Days

I’ve heard Every Single Stories Flame Out described as the guy in Zip City years later. I think that could be said about this song too. Sorry I missed this until now but yeah, I think that's accurate. But one could say that about a number of Cooley's songs. "Primer Coat" is one that comes immediate...

Re: DBT Tracks - Week # 6 - One of These Days

Always good to see your name and posts pop up in the 3DD feed, Cole! Hey, man, thanks. I’m trying to do better about being around. My daughter spent the night off last night and my wife and I were sitting out back listening to some music and I played Road Cases which has always been one of her favo...

Re: The Dirty South-Reissue Preorder

I have enjoyed this more than I expected. I normally don’t care about reissues and such. But this is my favorite Truckers album and this was them at their best in my opinion. I have really enjoyed listening to this reissue and hearing the album as it was intended.

I need to give it more listens. Right now I like No Vacancy by a pretty long way and I want to like them both.

Household name? I mean they’re kind of in weird territory. They’re too big to be small and too small to be big. They’re well known enough that when I mention them and somebody says, “Who?” I’m a little bit surprised. Yet at the same time I realize they’re still a well enough kept secret that if I ru...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P9NtnEH7kzo The two guys playing host on this seem to have their hearts in the right place but the whole thing has a two guys in the car on the Sonic commercials vibe to me. Real cool audio of Patterson at a solo show talking about the soon to be released Southern Rock ...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AfPDaxq4GyI Anybody here ever seen this? Took place somewhere around the shoals before the release of Southern Rock Opera. Re: DBT Tracks - Week # 6 - One of These Days

Agree with bubba that the song is about fathers and sons more than anything else. This song reminds me of my old man a lot. He never went to Chicago. He went to Las Vegas. And he went to Vietnam twice. The line about a country boy seeing steam rising reminds me a lot of him and my own experience ove...

I hadn’t been on 3DD for some time when Rod died, and while I composed several posts in my head I never actually submitted them. His death was- still is- a fuckin’ gut punch from hell. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?

Man Jason’s new album is a pleasant surprise. I didn’t think he still had this in him to be honest. To write a song as good as King of Oklahoma this far into his career is really impressive. Cast Iron skillet is really good. I like the idea of Vestavia Hills being from Cooley’s perspective. I don’t ...

So, are we going to war over Britney Griner? I feel bad for her but regardless of what US law is, she disrespected Russia's sovereignty. No matter whether we agree with Russia's law or not it is their country. I have a feeling that if any of us were in the same position as her, we'd already be in a...

BTW, I have no idea why the White House is insisting that 2 straight quarters of economic contraction is not a recession. I suppose it's because it's easier to argue about definitions than it is to try to fix problems, but still, it's unseemly and unhelpful. Thank God somebody said this. “We’re sca...

Nothing to argue with here except I would say the problem is not necessarily that the Senate is undemocratic per se it's the way the game is played in the modern era including but not limited to everything you say above that pushed the dysfunctionality over the edge. I feel that any legislative bod...

Re: Every Single Storied Flameout-New Cooley Song

I'm digging Wes Freed's artwork for the video. Same stretch of road from the SRO cover with Eleanor perched on what's left of the old tree. Horn players in the foreground foreshadow the sounds in the song. The car crash in the back makes me think of Days of Graduation. This song paired with The Dri...

Something about the verses has a Three Great Alabama Icons quality to me and anything that evokes that side of the band is great with me.
