Re: R.I.P - Charlie Daniels

Never in a million years did I think somebody would stop and take the time to pick apart my saying I respected Charlie Daniels for speaking his mind regardless of who it offended. I do t know why you can’t even have a thread paying respect to someone who passed on anymore without people acting like ...

A History of Hunting the Great Smokey Mountains. The first chapters that highlight the days of the Cherokee and the hunting prowess of Dragging Canoe and his war chiefs was some of my favorite as somebody who loves the history of the Southeastern Indians. Dragging Canoe is a particularly fascinating...

When I saw this yesterday I was sad, and still am, it wasn’t surprised. I had been thinking recently that it probably wouldn’t be much longer. I saw Charlie three times over the years and he out on a great show every time. Two years ago we saw him in Columbus with The Marshall Tucker Band and Travis...

What little I remember about that is thinking Luke Bryan sounded like a dog with peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth, And Cole Swindell was like one of those little fish that swims around right under a shark and feeds on the scraps left over from whatever the shark eats. Finally broke down and listened to it this afternoon. My expectations were low. I did t even know he had a new record out until about two weeks after the release. That’s how off my radar Jason has gotten. I’ve only listened to it once so I don’t feel like I should say all that much. It’s definitely ...

Re: NPR piece from Patterson

I used to worry about big government and abuses of power on that front. I’ve gotten older and realize that the federal government is too inefficient and sloppy to get its act together enough to do as much harm as I once feared though it still is a concern. Instead I worry about large concentrations ...

You got me curious. Where did he lose you? Do you remember where you stopped reading? You weren't asking me, but fwiw, he lost me here: "HBO Max recently announced that it won't be showing Gone With the Wind (at least for now). Good riddance!" I've never seen Gone With The Wind but this is a slippe...

Somehow this news got by me. Sad. Listened to a lot of Kenny Rogers as a little kid. It was his hey day and my sister loved him and had several of his records. If they had dropped Flying Wallendas and Eyes Like Glue for Girls Who Smoke and Strutter, it would stand alongside anything outside the Holy Trinity. Went to see Sturgill and Tyler at Rupp Arena this past Friday and I had a blast. Childers went on at promptly 7:30 and played until 8:45. He then addressed the crowd for a couple minutes, basically just talking about what an honor and a thrill it was for a Kentucky kid to play the state's most icon...
