Re: Asheville, 8/17 & 8/18

Didn't they play "Shut up" and "3 dimes down"both nights? Yep, "Zip City", "Where The Devil Don't Stay", "3 Dimes Down" and "Shut Up and Get on the Plane" were the only repeats that I remember, may have been more, but the second half of ni...

Re: DBT at Floydfest!!

I was there............I got there late though and missed Gary Clark Jr. and was totally pissed about that. I've been wanting to see him but the drive up the parkway took longer than I thought, plus the shuttle buses......should have left way earlier but I also figured the festival would be running ...

Re: Driving In West Virginia

I was driving to Pittsburgh last night, and when I hit Route 19 north and just passed the town of Summersville, I happened to turn on the radio and just hit seek and it landed on 96.5 Coal how bout as soon as I heard the name of the station they put on When The Well Runs Dry and after the song was ...

Of the six rock shows I've seen, they closed with "Angels and Fuselage" 3 times. Just got my first "World of Hurt" in Asheville in June though.

Re: Patterson's Goldtop Les Paul Deluxe

The big difference between the two that I would note is the pickups. The Gold top has mini-humbuckers and the SG obviously has full sized humbuckers. The will produce a difference in the sound. The mini's are apt to be a bit thinner in comparison.

Re: Songs you miss in the set (or have never seen)

I try to keep track of the songs I've heard live........nerdy perhaps but I'm like that.... I've seen 6 rock shows and 1 record store show and no "Living Bubba" yet. I find that a bit odd. Also don't think I've heard "Heathens" live. Just got my first performance of "My Swee...

Re: Go Go Boots at the Six Month Mark

A band like DBT doesn't put out "filler". That's subjective though isn't it? I mean, define "filler"? Most artists probably don't put out "filler". Or at least they think they don't. It's the fans who hang this tag on the least favorite songs. A song that one person mi...

Re: Anybody have the 2004 ACL Festival DVD?

Thanks for the reply.........but what I'm asking is if anybody has the official dvd? There's a dvd on Amazon from this festival and it contains 1 or 2 songs by a number of artists, including DBT. Just wondering if anybody's seen it or has it and what songs DBT plays on the dvd.

Re: Go Go Boots at the Six Month Mark

Since this thread has been steered towards Shonna discussion......is it common for Shonna to only sing one song per concert now? When I saw them in Asheville in June, she performed one song per show. I seem to remember her doing more the previous times I saw them. But she wasn't very energetic. I sp...

Re: Go Go Boots at the Six Month Mark

I agree 100%. The opportunity for something very special was there, but they just missed on this one. Stripped down with a lot of pedal steel would have been my choice, but others would disagree I'm sure. The album overall ranks in the bottom 1/3 of DBT records. Both this one and The Big To-Do have...

Re: 3 guitar magic

Lynyrd Skynyrd is probably the most well known 3 guitar band. The thing with them is, when they played live, all their guitar parts were worked out in advance. Each solo was played basically the same every time with very little improvisation. Not so with the Truckers.

Re: Greatest Hits release?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am constantly amazed by how, within the DBT fanbase, one person's pleasure is another person's poison. I love that aspect of it and I think it illustrates perfectly why they are as good a band as they are. That being said, ranking Patterson as the third ...

That's the one. Thanks alot. I always wondered what that was. I heard Jason had a deal with First Act a while back.

I never knew that about their Custom Shop. I always associated the name with, like you said, the cheap Walmart guitars.

Re: Go Go Boots at the Six Month Mark

I love THE SONG "Pulaski", but I don't care for the arrangement. I heard live recordings of Cooley doing this on acoustic as far back as 2001 and I liked those versions much more than the one on Go Go Boots. Still a great song. Yeah, I feel the same. In fact, I find myself liking each new...

Guitar Isbell's playing in "The Secret To A Happy Ending"?

Does anybody know what kind of guitar Isbell is seen playing on alot of the live footage in "A Secret To A Happy Ending"? It's got a Firebird style body shape, and mini-humbuckers like a Firebird, but it's not. It doesn't have a pickguard that I can see or the reverse style headstock that ...

6 months on from the release of Go Go Boots, my assessment hasn't changed much. I was disappointed when it first came out. There were a handful of good songs and a handful that I didn't careful. A couple that were ok. I hoped it would grow on me. It has. To some extent. I still like "Used To Be...

Re: Greatest Hits release?

Really enjoying this album, although I guess we could all come up with at least half a dozen songs that didnt make the cut that we feel could improve it. For me "Let there be rock" just sounds ridiculously out of place on this album, that song is Spinal Tap-esque in its "rawk" a...

Thanks for the story of the song, its pretty interesting given that it is outside of their usual writing process. Hopefully they will put it back into rotation, it is a great rock song. Re: Austin City Limits

Patterson himself has stated that the ACL performance was, at least at the time, his favorite filmed performance of the band. This has already been touched on, but in a sense, the fans and the band sometimes look for different things from the rock show expirience. The fans love the energy and rowdin...

I know this is an old post but I noticed last night that everything Jason played was in standard and then capoed up if necessary. He even plays his slide solos in standard now. I am sure he tuned down a step in the truckers because Hood has to do that for his voice to have more range. It doesn't ma...

Very interesting read about the recording of "Aftermath USA". I always thought it sounded like the Faces. Some of the Black Crowes stuff sounds ALOT like the Faces too. I didn't realize "Greenville To Baton Rouge" had been absent that long. That's a shame. For me, the best finale...

That is exactly how I feel about this song - it's become my favorite. It has incredible emotional depth.
