Re: Heathens Homecoming 2024

PS While I paid less attention to the demographics this year than i have in the past, my impression is that the encouraging trend towards a younger more female audience that I identified previously seems to be over. The audiences at this week's shows seemed to be back to the usual plurality or majo...

On behalf of those unable to attend, THANK YOU for the setlists and reviews! Bubba - your reviews are the next best thing to being there! That said, Saturday night's setlist spoke for itself and didn't a whole lot of context to understand what went down which was nicely confirmed by Steve. I applaud...

Re: PH & Cooley Solo Shows, November and December

Hey y’all! I’ve been enjoying all of the setlists and write-ups. Thank you! I made a last minute decision to go to Patterson’s show in Highlands, NC on Monday, December 12th. So worth the effort, even with the white knuckle NC ride through the clouds home. The venue was The Ruffed Grouse at Highland...

Re: Welcome to Club XIII

So I clicked on the link before I read the full post and I'm watching and enjoying and after the first song, Patterson starts saying the words to introduce "The Driver" and I'm thinking I need more coffee, they're not going to perform "The Driver" acoustic but they did and it was fantastic! The guit...

Thank you for the report chuckrh! Glad you got to experience PWD live.

I've not seen Cooley in a dress but I think he could pull it off, especially a Bob Mackie.

So I've always had respect for David Barbe's work but this and Welcome 2 have solidified him as a genius for me. Bravo! If you pre-ordered vinyl, the word from Don Giovanni is: Last I heard the LPs are supposed to show up at our distributor's warehouse any day now, if not already. We'll get copies s...

Re: Artist Of The Week 2/17/13 - Old 97s

The Wisconsin contingent had a tradition of beginning each pilgrimage to Athens with Too Far To Care. Justin was my introduction to Old 97’s (and a lot of other great music). Old 97’s did a TFTC anniversary tour a few years back, performed the album along with a separate set and bookended the show w...

Hey Glenn - If I think of a few fun ones, I’ll send them your way. Don’t you think as Heathens the proper form of the question should be “What the fuck is…?” Forged… I was on a quick road trip for work somewhere in the middle of south Georgia having a Millers Cave moment, listening to the album on r...

Are we still on DBT12 in terms of iterations of the band? So DBT12 is releasing Welcome to Club XIII, their 14th album? Thank you <someone> for posting the lyrics to The Driver. This one is really starting to hit me in a good way. I’m pretty close to Patterson and Cooley in terms of trips around the sun (I think). Maybe the way this is resonating with me is not at all what Patterson had in mind but here goes. When I ...

Re: Every Single Storied Flameout-New Cooley Song

I just had my first listen on Tidal and the enthusiasm in this thread is completely justified. The phrasing - yes, brilliant, reminiscent of Tom T. Hall to me.

Cooley and Glenn don't have to worry about me trying to sing along. More words in three minutes than I say in most hours.

Cat's Cradle 05/01/2022 Carrboro, NC

So I saw reference to a “Wall of Sound” in Philly and I felt it in Carrboro. And it was wonderful. Well Bill had a pretty good April. I saw Lee Bains (solo) yesterday afternoon at The Milestone in Charlotte and am in Carrboro for DBT tonight. One more thought and then I’ll shut up: I was fully prepared to dislike new Plastic Flowers but dang if I don’t like it equally well. I need both in my life and then I can choose based upon my mood. Some days are melancholy Plastic Flowers days and some are sinister Plastic Flowers days.
