I know he was recording (or has recorded) a single for another artist's compilation album. Maybe that was it?[/quote]
Could be. Her caption was "Back at work" or something to that effect. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

New Album Already?
I noticed that Amanda Shires posted a few Instagram stories this week that included Jason (and the 400 Unit) in the studio. Can't do a link b/c the stories disappear after 24 hours, but I wonder if he's gonna try to get a new one out in 2018?

Re: The Nashville Sound - June 16th
Yeah I'm also surprised it hasn't leaked yet*, although at this point half of it is available anyway. His (and DBT's) most recent albums leaked MONTHS in advance. I never understood the point of announcing a release 4 months ahead of time. Wish everyone would go with the "surprise" model, but I'm no...

Re: Jason Isbell - Something More Than Free 7/17
You guys are all drunk and/or high. This is a great album, especially if you like Southeastern. That's not my opinion- it's a proven fact. Studies have been done. Flagship, Children of Children, and Speed Trap Town are highlights - the latter is the "Elephant" of this album. Still, it kills me that ...

At the risk of sounding like a dummy, can someone explain what "24 Frames" means (not the song - just the title)?

I am a student of the "download the leak, pay for it when it comes out" school.

Durn it! I can't believe I missed the leak. I'm definitely of the "download the leak, pay for it when it comes out" school, although I definitely understand people who are anti-leakers. But it could all be fixed if the model for releasing albums changed...

Re: Jason Isbell - Something More Than Free 7/17
I've posted this question before and never heard a good answer - why do artists release albums this way? "Your favorite singer has a fantastic new album! It's done, it's amazing, it's the best one yet! We can't wait for you to hear it….and you can hear it in 3 months!" Three months is plenty of time...

Re: People Who Died
DId he play "People Who Died"? If so, who does it better? On the Willie Nile album he substitutes the name "Charlie" for "Eddie" at the end, so there must be some meaning for him. I was just wondering why, with all the songs out there, DBT often covers this one. "P...

People Who Died
I was listening to a cover of 'People Who Died" by Willie Nile (his album from this past summer - 'American Ride"- is definitely worth checking out) and got to wondering why DBT covers it so often. Is it just b/c it's a cool song? Or is there a back story to it?

There is definitely some sort of humming going on throughout Grand Canyon. Listen with headphones on and it's impossible to miss.

That is all.

Re: Don't understand the music business
Intersting stuff, Rev. Thanks for the insight. I was just looking at it from the perspective that in the age of leaks, 3 months advance notice leaves 3 months for the album to leak. Not sure why that bothers me, since I don't personally lose anything when a leak happens, but presumably the artists l...

Don't understand the music business
Does anyone understand the thought process behind announcing an album 4 months prior to its release? Presumably since they've got the track listing done (and also b/c the band has said so), the album is done. They announce it, get all sorts of press, some hype builds up…..and we all sit and wait for...

Cover Me Up
Come on! This is just too dang good. As good as any song he's ever recorded...I've seen a few people on the interwebs who claim that this has leaked and they say that it is just "meh", but the songs out so far sound much better than "meh"!

Re: The official new album thread
It's definitely out there. I don't understand why any band would announce an album 3-4 months in advance of it coming out (like DBT did with GGB). Radiohead was on the right track with In Rainbows, where they announced it was coming out and then a week later had it up on their website. I'm surprised...

Re: Superman
How he can not put Superman (and Crystal Clear for that matter) on an album is beyond me. Two of his best songs by far in my opinion. I remember reading sometime back on the Nine Bullets board that he doesn't even remember this song!
