Re: What happened to the Alabama Shakes?

I've never really been a big fan of the band and I don't think they should be trying to 'pull back' the strongest factor--which is Brittany! I feel like she needs to go into the studio with just a jack white or a dan auerbach and cut a stripped down record. This stuff isn't working.

Re: My Morning Jacket thread

I'm underwhelmed. Nothing good for me on this album. Damn. Shit. I'm going back to the headphones and trying to polish this turd somehow in my mind. Opposite here; I love everything about it, aside from "Big Decisions". Yeah, I do, too. And I haven't really liked much since 2008. It's a grower (I h...

I hated it when it first came out, but Circuital grew on me. "Wonderful" is one of my top 5 MMJ tunes. Lyrically they've always been brain dead or pretty close, and being a lyric guy they're one of the few bands I like in spite of that. Personally I prefer Circuital to Z or Evil Urges . well..........

Re: r&r cage match 7: auerbach-black keys vs.white-white str

Jack White has said repeatedly that Dan Auerbach is straight copying him. And as much as I hate to give Jack White credit, I kinda agree with him. i disagree w this. "straight out copying" is a huge stretch. auerbach has a unique sound and tremendous talent. Keep It Hid is an outstanding album. i a...

Re: 3DD artist of the week - 5/10/2010 - Todd Snider

What a depressing interview to read on a Sunday morning. Sounds like Todd is in a very dark place. That is unfortunate, I hope the best for him but by a number of things stated, it does not sound very good. Here's to hoping he can pull his head out and turn it around. I agree--when he does show up,...

Circuital sounded like children's music written by an adult with cognitive disabilities. Maybe this will be better. I agree that it would have helped the appearance (not necessarily the process or changed the outcome) had they brought in an outside prosecutor. Over time, it seems like the grand jury process has expanded past just submitting enough evidence to get an indictment. However, given the (mostly inconsis...

There is a side who cares about what the facts might be and there is a side that rushed to 'black and white judgment'. It's not up to leaders to lead us out of group-think or mob mentality, it's up to us to think for ourselves. Penny, I'm sorry but that's naive. The vast majority of people don't th...

It's amazing to me that this story, which is completely apolitical IMO, has lines drawn almost exactly down political lines when it comes to who defends Wilson and who doesn't. The Zimmerman story was the same I see a lot of liberals who aren't attacking Wilson. There are 3 in this thread alone. Zi...

If Michael Brown was white and the cop was white, or Michael Brown was white and the cop was black, we'd never hear about this, either. Endless platitudes can't take the place of facts. I'm as liberal as they come, but if you accept the grand jury's findings as read by the prosecutor last night (and I do), I think the shooting was justified. I agree with this. 12 Grand jury members, 60 witnesses and 3 medical experts. And as far as I know, the witnesses who said he had his arms up...
