Re: Link to Adam's House Cat Album

Its really a shame that they didn't get this put out. I think Patterson might have been a little self conscious of his voice at that point, but he shouldn't have been.... the vocals sound pretty good on these. I'm glad they put this out.... Its almost like getting a new DBT album out of the blue! P....

Re: Digital files of the 7" bonus record?

The b-side "Everywhere With Helicopter" is on the Guided By Voices tribute album "Sing For Your Meat." It's available as a digital download from Amazon. 99 cents for the song or $7.99 for the whole album, which looks pretty good. ("Helicopter" is one of my very fave GB...

Re: DBT tracks #48, "Play It All Night Long"

I always like to think that Zevon stuck his antenna out and interfered w/ the DBT's bandwidth and stole this song.... it totally should have been a DBT, everything about it screams DBT.

Yeah, its probably time to change that and American Girl out.... there's tons of other great Petty songs out there.... pretty much anything on Damn The Torpedoes would be awesome.

Re: Jay Gonzalez

I really think that Jay's addition to the band is very under-appreciated in general. His keyboard playing takes a good song like Ray's Automatic Weapon and subtly takes it to the next level. I really like the contributions he has made over the last couple of albums. I agree.... although I really th...

Re: DBT tracks #46--Marry Me

The only resemblance to "Already Gone" is the riff is similar, and I don't see anyone could deny that. I agree it's kinda "Stonesy", a lot of Cooley's rockers are that way to me - his voice is even slightly similar to Jagger's - but the songs are still distinctly DBT. Regarding ...

Re: Gangstabilly vs. Pizza Deliverance

PD's the better album, GB's got "The Living Bubba," plus "Panties in Your Purse" and "Buttholeville." If it were me, I'd let the boys eat Kraft dinner one more time & buy both albums. After all, you're responsible for their cultural as well as physical sustenance. ...

Pizza Deliverance, hands down.... Cooley's contributions make this a *must have*.... Gangstabilly is good in its own right, but if you ask me is a step behind Pizza Deliverance.

Re: Bloomington, IN 4/10/11

Considering it..... not crazy about seeing college town rock shows... the crowds are usually a bit off and it seems to throw off the entire show. Both times I've seen them in Columbus, it was a weird vibe.

After last night's show, though, I'm strongly considering driving out to Bloomington....

Last night was my 2nd time seeing them at Newport Music Hall.... the band was great, but man that place has terrible crowds. I think the location next to campus draws a lot more half-hearted fans. I really do not like the crowds at that place, VERY conservative. Still fun, but I am looking forward t...

How many people showed? 9 songs at an instore promo appearance?! Can't say i have much experience w/ them, but that seems like a lot. Good for you guys!! It was a crowded house, I'd say about 100 or so people packed in there. It ended up being about an hour show. Joked around with EZB and Jay about...

Re: The Big To Do - thoughts after a couple of months?

it seems to me that a lot more people on this board are much more willing to trash ABAAC since Jason's departure. this would appear to be at least somewhat related to the fact Patterson has frequently disparaged the album himself since that time. I defy anyone to find a negative quote from a band m...

Re: The Big To Do - thoughts after a couple of months?

This is the record they wanted to make with ABAAC. I've thought this same thing time and time again about TBTD... its totally what ABAAC should have been. ABAAC seems like it suffered from a couple different issues, mainly Isbell's unhappiness and Cooley's semi-writer's block. In retrospect I find ...
